Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We break down pricing, so you see the pricing for each project. Some just have a complete install price that covers everything specified in the quote.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
If they haven’t already picked or know what products they want. I will educate and help them pick a product that fits their lifestyle. I explain the process, the amount of time it will take, and how to care for their product to insure warranty isn’t voided. We take pride in knowing our customer have made the right choice in their home improvement.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have National wood flooring association, Bona Kemi, Ardex, XL brands certification or training.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was 16 years old and worked during the summer doing home insurance claim work. I really enjoyed the wood working from that point on. I enjoyed the demolition the most.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve worked for homeowners, business owners, insurance adjusters and builders

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We just remodeled a 1200 square foot basement. We removed two bedroom walls to open up the basement, so the customer would have more open space and larger bar area. We completed all Sheetrock repairs. Removed all carpeting and install new luxury vinyls planks. Also, installed the luxury vinyl planks on the stairs. We installed all new craftsman style baseboards and door casing. The finished product looks so good and the customer is extremely happy.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure they have some training, they follow industry and manufacture guidelines. As a past inspector, I have seen many warranty claims denied do to failure to comply with installation specification.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Choosing the right product for the right application. How long is the project gonna last, but always remember things pop up that is out of everyone’s control. One instance, there could be rotten subfloor that needs to be replaced. In remolding, additional work happens and extends the project. Will the contractor hang plastic to help eliminate dust in areas to avoid some extra cleaning. Would you like a cleaning crew lined up after the project is complete. Sometimes the company you hire, gets a better price on cleaning. So, you may consider this. What’s the contractors warranty and get it in writing.
