Introduction

Hi, I’m Mike — a local electrical apprentice with 5 years of hands-on experience in residential and commercial electrical work and general handyman services. I currently work full time in the trade, gaining hours toward my license, and I take on small side jobs during nights and weekends to keep building my skills and help out local homeowners who need reliable, affordable help. I’ve worked on a wide range of residential and light commercial projects, including installing light fixtures and ceiling fans, troubleshooting dead outlets and switches, replacing old devices, updating lighting, and general home repairs. I’m transparent about what I can and can’t take on based on permit and license requirements — and if something’s outside my scope, I’ll always let you know upfront and can refer you to a licensed electrician if needed. My goal is to offer clean, safe, and honest work at a fair price. I show up on time, keep the lines of communication open, and treat your home with the same care I would my own. If you’re looking for help with a small project or repair, I’d be happy to take a look and let you know what’s involved.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I try to keep pricing fair and straightforward. For most jobs, I’ll give you a flat rate once I know what’s involved — no surprises or hidden fees. If it’s something quick, I might just charge a simple service call rate. I don’t mark up materials and I’m happy to work with you to stay within your budget. Estimates are always free, and I’ll never push work you don’t actually need.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I usually start by getting a quick description of the work you need done — either by message, call, or pictures if that’s easier. From there, I’ll let you know if it’s something I can take on and give a ballpark estimate or set up a time to stop by and take a look. Once we agree on the scope and price, I’ll schedule the work and keep you updated if anything changes. No pressure, no upselling — just honest work and clear communication.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve worked with a little bit of everyone — homeowners looking to upgrade lights or outlets, landlords needing quick fixes between tenants, folks remodeling a room, and even small business owners who need help with their shops or offices. Most of my customers just want someone who’s reliable, does clean work, and doesn’t overcomplicate things — and that’s exactly how I try to operate.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One recent project I really liked was installing an outdoor GFCI outlet for a customer’s patio. They wanted power for string lights and a small water feature but didn’t have an exterior outlet. I ran weather-rated wire from the panel, installed an in-use box with a GFCI outlet, sealed everything up properly, and tested it to make sure it was safe and working right. The whole job took about half a day, and the customer was thrilled to finally have power outside for the summer without having to use an ugly extension cord.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for someone who’s honest about what they can and can’t do. Some electrical jobs are simple and don’t need a permit — others should really be done by a licensed electrician. A good provider will tell you that upfront, not just take the job to make a buck. Don’t be afraid to ask questions about their experience or how they’d tackle your project. You want someone who does clean work, shows up when they say they will, and actually cares about doing the job right.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
It helps to know what you’re looking to get done — even if you’re not sure how to explain it perfectly. Things like: What’s not working? What’s the goal? When do you need it done? Also, if you know how old the wiring is or what’s already been tried, that’s super helpful. Photos go a long way too. Don’t worry about having all the answers — a good pro will ask the right questions and walk you through the options.
