Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I charge either Time & Material or Flat rate. I prefer flat rate but it is difficult to price something without seeing it first. Often a potential client will be surprised at the cost of hiring a licensed electrician, and decide to hire the lowest bidder. I find this leaves them with regret when the person hired gets in over their head, and leaves them with more problems than when they started with, costing the owner even more money.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to meet the customer and discuss their needs, cover costs, and perform the work. I don't leave a customer unhappy, I am not a hit-and-run operation!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
State Certified Electrical Contractor Licensed Journeyman Electrician Certified Kohler Generator Installer Certified Aviation Radar Repairman Certified Fiber Optics Technician + Installer

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My first electrical job was working on Lockheed Martin radars in the military, I eventually left and transitioned into being an electrician.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Homeowners, small business owners and chains, government, utility, and agricultural.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Any of the houses I've wired from the ground up in the past 10 years.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure you are hiring a licensed electrician. That means certified OR registered. There are many that claim they are licensed and/or qualified but actually are not! Please do a search online here to verify your contractor at the myfloridalicense website. Thumbtack allows nonlicensed individuals to advertise they perform work they are not legally authorized to do! Watch how fast they disappear when things turn south and they’ve already collected your money!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Do you have a budget in mind? What will the finished product/install look like and what changes from your current situation will their be? What do you want to accomplish when the project is said and done?
