unfold fold
- We offer custom tailored quotes with room by room specifics for each project. - Most jobs quoted on site - Online invoicing

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We typically schedule either a service call or an estimate appointment based on the clients need. A service call gets the work scheduled immediately for a repair with a two technician team, licensed electrician and a helper. An estimate gets an appointment for us to come and get a look at the project first. We then create and send an estimate via email. The client can then accept digitally, or request changes until the quote is acceptable. Once accepted our office schedules the project and we come out and complete the project.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our licensed Techs go through a minimum of 4 years of apprenticeship and have passed there exam that qualifies the tech to do electrical work in the state of Ma. Continuing education every 3 years as required.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My Father Jim Prescott Sr. Started Castle Electric, Inc in 1997 so I grew up around it!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All kinds of homeowners and commercial property managers.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We did a large knob and tube remediation in a beautiful old home. These projects are complex. First we scheduled a mapout. This is when we go out and identify what is on the live knob and tube wiring. Once that is complete we send a customized quote with a room by room item by item estimate. Once approved we got the work scheduled, this particular project was 3 weeks of work. We came in and had to go room by room and use lots of plastic drop cloths, we typically need to make a good amount of holes, typically when we go from a switch to a light fixture, unless there is an open attic above. This home had a room with a Tin ceiling. We were able to snake from the adjoining rooms ceiling to the light location without a single hole in that room. We had to take a lot of care and wear boot covers and use our Clorox wipes and Swiffer wet jets every day to cleanup the dust. This project also included a 200A service upgrade and 2 sub panels. Once complete the homeowner brought in a plasterer and painter to patch up the holes and it looked like we were never there! Our client was thrilled to have safe updated wiring in there home, and we were happy to help!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Big things to consider: If they are a 1 man operation or a full team to support your needs? Are they licensed and insured? Are the reputable with good reviews on many platforms? Are they a professional who will treat your property with respect and warranty there work?

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What type of lighting do you like, wall lights, recessed, ceiling lights, switched outlets for lamps? Do you like outdoor lights on motion sensors or on a switch? Always ask If the contractor provides upfront prices, if they are unwilling to discuss or give you an estimate that is a red flag for bigger issues. Are you insured? Do you clean up after you work? What type of devices and what color do you prefer? White, Ivory almond? Standard toggle switches or Decora switches, standard outlets or decora outlets?
