Mostly weekend work, employed full time as electrical construction manager.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Thumbtack requires a price to be listed; so I did. I do not charge for an estimate, or a consultation, I typically charge by the job rather than hourly. This puts the burden on me to complete the task in a timely manner. If the job is easier than I anticipated, I'll gladly discount my quote. Make sure the person is licensed and insured, there are people advertising themselves as 'handyman' on Thumbtack for electrical and plumbing work...don't fall for it.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I hold Master Electrical Licenses in NH, MA and CT, I am fully insured. I've been in the electrical construction trade for 30yrs+, my education is well varied, I have an ASEE, a BS and an MBA.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Technical high school, majored in Electrical Construction, wired houses as a teen and while attending college.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Compare apples to apples; make sure you're getting all necessary components, etc. Make sure the person is licensed and insured, there are people advertising themselves as 'handyman' on Thumbtack for electrical and plumbing work...don't fall for it.
