My father was a general contractor and licensed termite inspector and I grew up working for him remodeling homes. I constantly observed the damage termite did to houses and how amazing they would look after my father and I finished working on them. When I became older I followed in my father's footsteps, became a general contractor and decided to start a termite company of my own. I love going to work everyday knowing when my children grow up years from now they will be able to see the impact I had in preserving the homes in our community.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Cal Termite offers free inspections. We work with residential, commercial, HOA and real estate. We offer discounts for seniors and military.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We begin with our office staff scheduling the time and date of the inspection and gathering contact information for your termite inspection report. When one of our inspectors arrives at your home, he will explain the inspection process, including everything he will be looking for during the inspection, and will give you a folder with additional information about the inspection process. Your inspector will show you what, if any, evidence was found after the inspection has concluded. You will usually receive the inspection report within one business day of the inspection date, which will contain a breakdown of all findings made during the inspection as well as recommendations for each finding.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have an Associate's Degree in Construction Management and over 25 years experience training and working in the field.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I began working with my father as a child. He taught me where to look for termites and fungus damaged wood, how to treat and repair damaged wood and everything I needed to know abut the termite control industry.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We work with residential and commercial, HOA and property management companies.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We recently did an inspection on a home we were remodeling and noticed extensive termite damage when the walls became exposed. After the full inspection, we fumigated the home, replaced all the damaged wood and applied preventative termite treatments on both the exposed framing and the soil around the perimeter of the home. It took about two weeks to repair the termite damaged wood and treat the house. After all the work was completed, including the remodel, the house looked amazing!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Customers tell me all the time about their experiences with other companies. Almost all of them seem to favor smaller, family owned companies when it comes to termite control. I constantly hear about larger companies charging excessive amounts and using pressure-selling tactics. Also, I recommend choosing someone you feel you can trust. I've always tried to hire honest people for any service needs I have had over the years.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Many of the questions I hear on a daily basis deal with local treatments versus fumigation and also eco-friendly versus conventional treatment methods. If you want to know more, just give us a call!
