Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My fees range from 50$ to 150$ for the hour sessions free midweek follow ups or texts.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
If you decide that my skills and location or remote services are a match for your issues, we schedule a brief call to determine if you'd like to work together on these issues and then we would decide on rate and frequency of interactions. I usually recommend a one hour session once per week and a midweek follow up call, text, or email for continuity, a chance to improve any plans we set that aren't as effective as we'd like them to be, and to provide an accountability check as you try to meet your goals. You receive my session notes with our agreed upon plans for change with coaching. Therapy notes are private medical records and require releases for disclosing them.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a certified life coach and have a doctorate in Clinical Psychology with over 25 years in clinical practice. In my work with people I focus on the present, use a positive and change oriented mindset, and base our strategies for change on your strengths.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
While I continue to provide psychotherapy, I have some frustration with the psychotherapy model of diagnosis, damage and dysfunction. People I was working with had seen several therapists and were not getting any better because the psychotherapy model looks at illness and disease first and sometimes never gets a chance to look at health and wellness in people. So I made a change and started focusing on mindset and change and using the strongest aspects of a persons character to make changes.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've worked with customers all over the world from Europe to Asia, all over the US, to my own little area of the globe in Illinois. I've worked with children, teens, adults and older adults, boys and girls, men and women. I focus primarily on teens through adults these days.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I worked with a couple recently that were convinced that they could not change. In four weeks they're in sync together, they improved their communication, they work as a team, they've dropped defensiveness. It's been a great challenge and success for them. I also worked with a younger gentleman who has rather significant ADHD and we established skills to reboot his attention, refocus his mind, stay organized, and be so incredibly productive.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Ask questions up front. Look where they are located. Be direct about costs and benefits. I truly believe that the work I do with others is priceless and if we worked together to fix a lifelong problem that has immeasurable value. So understand that if I, or other coaches state their fee confidently, we know our worth and value to people because we solve the "unsolvable problems" they've had. Personally, I can be flexible with my rates for those who cannot afford my full fee.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is your fee and can you be flexible with that? What bonuses do I get from working with you? Have you had success with my issues in the past? These are just a few questions to get you started.
