Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our pricing is inline nationwide cost per sq. ft. The national average for epoxy coating is between $4-15 per square foot, depending what material and is being used and certain situations at hand. 1 Day Concrete Floor Coatings only uses the best materials including SOLID and METALLIC EPOXY, POLYUREA/POLYASPARTIC and Torginol Flake systems. Be very careful what other contractor is offering you specially when the price is too low, chances are you're not getting the very best solution for your floors. Ask questions, do some research on the materials it will help you decide what kind of material you would like to put on your floors. Everyone likes get to pricing immediately, but every concrete floors are different. We need to see the concrete floors to give you an accurate pricing, there are many variable to consider when we price it out, such as is concrete clean, no cracks, spalling, holes needs to be fixed? How about the hardness of the concrete, any existing coating? These are just some examples as to why we cannot give an accurate estimate by phone. We need to see the concrete floor.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Our process, is understanding what the customer/client wants, what project entails, is it a Garage, Driveway, Patio, Pool Deck..etc. We ask questions regarding the project, to give an accurate estimate for the job. We also can come to the customer location to get an accurate measurements using the latest measuring devices such as laser measuring tools. We check everything for concrete moisture, any damages such as cracks and pitting of the concrete, and also check the hardness of the substrate. These are very important information prior to laying the coatings as we take pride of our installations, that we back by a 20 year warranty.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our Techs has certifications and proper rigorous training to ensure our work is done the right way! We have staff and engineers, that supports the products we use and install.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
It started having to do our own coating in our store, then customers coming in our retail store noticed it and wants it installed in their garages, driveways, patios etc. So we decided to look into this business and did our diligence, study the product and procedures with the manufacturer. learn it and trained for it, that was 3 years ago. Now we have offices both in New York and in Florida, we're growing.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Commercial and Residential customers. We cover most of South Florida including Miami Dade County, Broward and Palm Beach Counties. But depending on the project there are many variables each project is different.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently finished working on a MULTI-BUILDING condominium, in Florida. There were 3 buildings and 2 floors we need to apply coating to. These floors are high traffic areas that leads to the parking garage for each bldg. We applied using our Flake system and making sure we use anti-slip solution. It took our staff 1 day for each floor. The end result was great, the customer is very happy and now they are looking into installing more in their elevator landing areas, the Main entrances to the buildings and more. good things happens when we take pride of our work and provide a good service to our customers.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Ask questions, Ask what products do they use to install the coating, ask how long does it take, ask for warranties, ask for sample work performed both commercial and residential. Ask for references if any. There are many fly-by night companies that doesn't last long in this industry because this kind of work is very detail oriented. Ask if they are a licensed contractor, far too often they they are not licensed and will give you some kind of excuse that they don't need one, check your county! Many contractors does not have liability insurance or workmen's comp ask for it. Don't be the one when something went wrong and you're getting sued.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Know the project at hand, what is it? What is the total space (Total Square Ft.), what timeline is expected? Is the floor clean? Free of damages such as cracks? Pitting? Does the concrete surface always wet? or dry? Is there current coating? is it paint? Epoxy? Does it have tiles? is it pavers? Stamped? Terrazo, or other substrate? These are very important details to get the right contractor.
