Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our consultation is completely free, and we offer upfront pricing with no hidden fees. During the consultation, we'll provide you with a price for your project that won’t change. For more complex projects, we may need to do some additional research to find the right product for your job at the best possible price before providing a final estimate. However, 90% of the time, you'll have our price by the end of the visit.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
All of our design associates travel to the customer in our mobile showroom with over 3,000 product samples. We believe it is important to travel to the customer so we truly understand the space and the project. There is no substitute for seeing the product in your lighting against your wall colors and furniture - it provides the confidence that you have chosen the right product.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
All of our design associates have a background in a field that supports the process whether that's a career in flooring, customer experience, or designing and developing fashion products. In addition, everyone on our team completes 100 hours of continuing education yearly on the latest trends in design and install so we have the confidence to help our customers.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My wife and I had a poor home remodel experience and knew there had to be a better experience for the customer. I felt so strongly about it that I left my career and established Floor Coverings International in Kansas City. It has been an incredible journey and we couldn't be happier with our decision. Projects don't always go perfect but we pride ourselves on making it right before we accept final payment.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We focus on residential customers. The team and I really enjoy making homeowners happy.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
My current favorite project is a hardwood refinish we did for a homeowner. They wanted new carpet but as we started choosing carpet and planning the project we found great hardwoods and they decided to sand and refinish. We rushed the project in time for them to surprise their family for their son's graduation party. I was excited we could help.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
There are a lot of great contractors out there. We think our value is that we manage the entire process and don't get final payment till the homeowner is satisfied. We only do floors and tile projects so we understand them. We think our love for our work shows.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Are you insured? Will you be here for the install? What if something happens to you how will my project get finished? What other products am I not considering that may work for my project?
