Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Historic Newton Home Renovation – 1880s Charm, Modern Standards We recently completed a full renovation of two floors in a historic 1880 home located in Newton’s preserved district. This was a rewarding project that came with its share of complexities—and showcased the full scope of what JR can deliver. The entire space was taken down to the studs. We removed outdated materials, including horsehair plaster walls, and replaced everything with modern, up-to-code construction. We leveled the floors, added full insulation on both levels, and installed a complete HVAC system to bring comfort and energy efficiency to the home. Five bedrooms and two bathrooms were completely rebuilt and reimagined—now featuring beautiful, energy-efficient finishes that meet today’s safety and building codes, while respecting the home’s historic character. From start to finish, including inspections and labor, this transformation took nearly five months—a testament to the detailed care and craftsmanship we bring to every project. Historic preservation.
