Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My prices are competitive with the industry. What's important about my PRICE is that it's backed by my personal guarantee that if your not happy with the work I'll refund your money, guaranteed. I'm not expensive, I'm not cheap....my prices are simply put, fair. :) My guarantee ensures you will always be protected.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
My process is simple: 1. Take a series of pictures or videos and upload them to Thumbtack in response to my initial quote response, 2. or send them to me via text or email. 3. We can also do a quote via faceTime/video calls. 4. I'll see the job scope clearly and submit my quote via Thumbtack. 5. You accept and we book the appointment to get the job done.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have been in the Carpet and water damage industry for 15 years. I decided recently to strictly focus on repairs only as my niche. I am one class/course away from being an IICCRC certified Master Technician which means I can do anything with carpet e.g. carpet repairs and re-stretching, cleaning carpet, water damage restoration, urine and odor removal.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I had been doing carpet cleaning since I was a kid with a family friend. I remember how many times I would pass up repairs. I had a lot of my friends who were carpet cleaners pass up on repairs as well. One day I decided to take a class and with a little courage I attempted my first repair the same day I completed that class. It was a success!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Residential: I've worked with many customers but a majority of my past customers where married with kids. Commercial: Some of clients ranged from property managers, insurance adjusters, City buildings, Shriners hospital etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
LOL..... This particular job was one that really shows how thinking outside the box is important. One day a customer told me she had this strange bulge in her carpet and that nobody would touch it due to the fact that where it was at would cause them to have to open up two seams, and pull up about 18 feet of transition next to a tile kitchen floor, let alone the heavy furniture that would have to be moved out of the living room and family room. I simply looked at the issue (understood what they were talking about) and then decide that none of that needed to be done. I know how carpet is constructed it is formed by the interweaving of warp and weft yarns! So I walked over to this bulge in the carpet and cut a slit right down the weft of the carpet. I cut out the bulge and replace the pad and seamed the carpet back together and you couldn't tell there had been an incision.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
This isn't rocket science. The safety of yourself and family should always come first.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1. Did I do a good enough job showing the scope of the job I want done so that I am not surprised with an up-charge when the technician arrives? 2. Ask them if he/she specializes in carpet repairs. Most importantly always go with your instinct, it's probably right.
