Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We offer free estimates for home owners and financing is available upon project approval.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Normally, a customer sends us an inquiry and our customer care team will reach out to schedule a free inspection with one of our System Design Specialists. The Design Specialist will go out to the home, diagnose the problem, and offer a solution. Once agreed upon, the production team will be scheduled to come our and install our products, keeping your basement dry and foundation strong!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Adirondack Basement Systems is privately owned, but part of a large network of dealers under Contractor Nation. Contractor Nation provides regular trainings, all of our products, and hosts annual conferences to keep all departments up to date on best practices. Contractor Nation also works closely with SupportWorks, which focuses more on Foundation Repair education and also hosts annual conferences for training.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Owner, Kevin Koval, started this company in his Halfmoon backyard back in 1998, with him being the only employee. After having dealt with waterproofing and foundation issues in his own home, Kevin wanted to help other homeowners tackle their own moisture and structural concerns. Quickly, Kevin was able to grow his team to now 50+ employees, with 6 crews, and plans to continue keeping homes healthy for years to come!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We work with all types of customers. New and seasoned homeowners, realtors, commercial businesses, etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently worked on a basement waterproofing project in Saratoga Springs, NY, where a homeowner was dealing with persistent water seepage every time it rained. The basement was being used as a storage space, and the moisture was causing damage to personal items. We installed an interior drainage system, sealed the walls, and added a sump pump to ensure the water was redirected safely. The entire project took just two days to complete, and the customer was thrilled with the results—no more water in the basement, and they could use the space worry-free. It was rewarding to solve such a pressing issue so efficiently.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Take the time to look at pictures and videos, and do not be afraid to ask questions!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What are my goals and objectives? What do I want to achieve with this project? What problem am I trying to solve? What is my budget? What is the maximum amount I am willing to spend on this project? Have I accounted for potential unexpected costs? What is my timeline? When do I want the project to be completed? Are there any critical deadlines or milestones? What are the key deliverables? What exactly do I expect to receive at the end of the project? Are there specific features, components, or results I need? What level of involvement do I want? Do I want to be involved in every step, or prefer to leave it to the professional? Will I need to provide any specific input during the process? Have I clearly defined the scope of the project? What is included and excluded in the scope of the project? What are the potential risks or challenges associated with the scope? Who are the stakeholders or decision-makers? Who needs to be consulted or informed during the project? Who has final approval or authority over decisions? What is my vision for the project? Do I have any reference materials, examples, or inspiration to share with the professional? How do I envision the final outcome? What qualifications or experience should the professional have? What expertise, certifications, or background should the professional possess? Do I need someone with a specific skill set or industry knowledge? What communication style works best for me? Do I prefer frequent check-ins, or would I rather have fewer but more in-depth updates? How do I prefer to receive feedback or ask questions (email, meetings, etc.)? Are there any legal, regulatory, or compliance requirements? Does the project need to meet specific legal or industry standards? Are there any licenses or permits required? What are the potential risks or challenges I should anticipate? Are there any obstacles, potential delays, or concerns that I need to plan for? What is my contingency plan if things don’t go as expected?
