Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Basic flat work is priced out by the square foot. That's why it's important to know the exact measurement of the rooms or of the carpet that will be fitting the room, to give an accurate price. If you have the carpet already then you should state what size it is so I can give you a price. There are also extras involved in the price, such as ripping up and disposing of the old carpet and padding, stairs, different prices for different kinds, patterned carpet and moving furniture is also an extra cost.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
CARPET WORK-On the job training with numerous older and more experienced installers. I have picked up different skills and tricks of the trade from a lot of other installers I have worked with over the years. Experience goes a long way with installation and especially doing repairs. JUNK REMOVAL-I have three large trailers to accommodate various jobs. And for entire house clean outs I will rent a large dumpster from a local company in your town. I have been doing junk removal and house clean out for about seven years now. I got started by doing for closure properties and then branched off into junk removal for the homeowner. Besides taking away furniture and appliances, I can also take down and remove swing sets, pools, hot tubs, sheds... just ask, if I can’t do it I will tell you. And if I can recommend someone else I will.😎👍

How did you get started doing this type of work?

As an apprentice with my friend and his family

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
First make sure you are contacting the right contractor for the job. For instance, don’t reach out to a junk removal guy if you need your house cleaned. It’s not the same thing. Second, check out the contractors pictures and reviews. You can learn a lot about a contractor just from the pictures. Does he have all the equipment to handle your job? What does the area look like when he leaves? When listing your job request please try and be as accurate as possible as to what you need taken away and how many truckloads it might be. For instance, A couch, loveseat, recliner chair, China cabinet, dining table and coffee table is not “half a truckload”.😆. Just like, one loveseat or one refrigerator is not 2 or 3 truckloads. 😉👍 PICTURES, PICTURES, PICTURES......... Please attach as many pictures as you can of the things you need taken away along with a brief description of what’s in the pictures. It also helps if you can take pictures of the way these items will be taken from your house. For instance if there’s stairs involved or there is a gate to get through into your yard to remove something, please show how it will be accessed. Knowing more details of a job could save you money! Personally, if I know I can do the job alone and not have to pay a helper for the day, I can give you a better price quote.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

I do not “Clean” or “Dye” carpets.
