Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I price each job by looking at all the work to be done. I am not the cheapest nor the most expensive. I feel you get what you pay for, and long after the joy of a cheap price is forgotten the look of a poor job remains.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First I talk to them to schedule an estimate and answer any early questions, then I show up at the appointment on the day and time arranged. Next we discuss the project, I measure, and give a written proposal for the work to be done. I am not a high pressure salesman. If we agree upon the price I schedule the work. I don’t use sub-contractors, all the work is performed by me.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Bachelor degree, installation training from Armstrong Floors, Bruce Hardwood Company. Lead Renovator certificate.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
It started as a side job, but turned into a full time profession.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with people from all walks of life. I have never looked at a house and decided to charge more because I think someone can afford it. I have one set of prices for everyone

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently installed lvt planks on the entire 1st floor(1500 sf) over 3 different floor heights using different thicknesses of plywood to make all the floors the same height, with no transition strips.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for someone licensed and insured 1st. Then see if he/she returns phone calls or texts promptly. Then how does he/she conduct themselves in your home. Are they cleanly dresses and professional as well as knowledgeable.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Try to ascertain their budget and have some idea what the differences of different floorings are, that way they will have some knowledge about the flooring and I can help them pick the tight product for their individual need.
