Introduction

I’m Steve Welch with Home Dr Pros LLC. I’m 50 yo with a wife of 33 years, and three kids. We moved to Knoxville to chase some grandkids! I’ve been in the residential home construction business since I got out of school and I have built new homes for over 20 years from grass to turn key. in these later years, our company has focused on kitchens, baths, basement renovations, and home additions. I have plenty of pictures and countless references. In these photos, most of the bathrooms that we have remodeled were complete gut jobs. We are a one-stop shop. We do our own plumbing, electrical, Sheetrock finishing, trim, painting, and flooring so that means there isn't a lot of waiting in between trades on someone else's schedule. We are not the cheapest or the fastest. We’re not going to rush through your job just to get a check. We are a fully licensed Electrical, Plumbing and General contracting service and are fully insured with 2 million coverage in general liability and workers comp insurance on our guys as well as full auto insurance so you can sleep easy knowing your job and property are covered. We work every day and believe that communication and full focus on your job is our top priority, we want to get in and out of your house and leave as small of a footprint as possible. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
First off, we're not going to be your cheapest estimate, but we’re competitive with other quality construction companies that bring value and peace of mind to their clients. We will also not be the fastest, because we don’t cut corners and we spend the extra money to make certain your home will last for the next 100 years. We also give five percent discounts to our military personnel. We have plenty of references from past clients that can let you know from their own experience working with us that we are not your average joes.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First thing is to have a 15 or 30 min phone consultation. Maybe even a face time video if you are able to do so. We will discuss size, demolition, design, the extent of work needing done, and types of materials needed, at that point, we can discuss a budget. most kitchens and baths can range from 5000 to 60,000 depending on the client's wants and needs. We have installed 2000$ toilets and 45,000$ kitchen cabinets. After going over all details I will give you a rough estimate. If you want to move forward from there, we will set up an in-home consultation. (There will be anywhere from a 200$ to 400$ consultation fee depending on the extent of the project. This covers our time and a written quote. We will waive that fee if you decide to move forward with us.) We will come out, meet you, and go over the project in detail and get tight measurements, discuss and figure out all the fine details. If you want to move forward, we will draw up a formal contract to sign, give a start date, and time of completion. Our contract is very thorough and covers you the client, and home dr pros. How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
It’s all I’ve ever done as soon as I got out of high school

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Ive been working with the public for over 30 years I have worked with all kinds of customers

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We have finished two jobs for the same client about 8 months apart. Their master bathroom updated and their basement bathroom. Both were complete guts to the studs and plumbing and electrical moved. Lots of tiles and contemporary finishes. Each job took about three weeks to complete. this couple was so good to work with and so happy with the results. we can't wait to do their guest bathroom next!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Be careful. Vet everyone you talk to. Check to make sure they are licensed and insured because that is where the power is if they don't finish the work or do a bad job. If they are not licensed you can't really do much about it if they do you wrong. you will have to just give it to God and let him deal with it. Make sure they are insured. If they crash your house or car you need to be covered. If they don't have workers comp or an exemption, they can sue you if they hurt themselves. "Ask your homeowner's insurance provider and they will tell you. Check out their appearance, if they carry themselves sloppy then they most likely work sloppy. If they are pushy at sales, I would be careful dealing with them.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Budgets and at least a pretty good idea of what your looking for
