Introduction

Potted Succulent Gardens create a colorful, summery vibe in your outdoor entertaining area, backyard, or front porch entry. Succulent displays in pots and containers are perfect for bright outdoors spots where you want low-maintenance plants that provide vibrant, long-lasting color and an interesting focal point. Hi! I'm Mary, and I've been in business making succulent arrangements and outdoor Potted gardens in the South Bay since 2016. I will transform your entry, patio, or backyard entertaining area into a beautifully colored garden oasis of succulents in pots, planters, containers, and window boxes to love and enjoy for a long time. To ensure your potted gardens stay as gorgeous as the day they were installed, I also offer a monthly service which includes watering, trimming, pruning plus a discount on replacement plants when they are needed. I love my local South Bay customers and am happy to provide references from previous jobs upon request. Book an estimate and inquire about pricing. Tiered pricing is based on container size, existing pots or new, and arrangement design.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I offer tiered pricing based on the size of the container or pot (diameter of round pots, and longest side of square/rectangle pots). Includes plants, soil, planning and prep time, one-on-one consultation with the client to determine the overall plan, and labor. Based on 6 years of experience, my tiered pricing benefits my clients.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We book a phone call and review photos and options through text to determine what is needed. During this consult, we'll discuss pot size, plant colors, and arrangement style, plus timing (is there a planned event coming up, is there a deadline for job completion, is it an ongoing project?) Once we book the planned job date(s) and the size of the job, I will pick up single pots if it's a small job, arrange them and bring them back, or I will plan to be on location to plant and arrange. We discuss the benefits of monthly service, which is specific to each client, and ensure the succulents continue to thrive.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I've been creating succulent arrangements and growing succulent gardens for over 7 years. I'm a Succulent Enthusiast and am self taught. I love to pass along my knowledge and will share tips and tricks about everything I know on my social media: @sorellaminchella on all platforms.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
In 2014 I developed and interest in planting succulents in my own garden and was surprised to see them Sprout and propagate themselves. I started buying more and learning about how to propagate and then started working with them in pots and boxed arrangements as gifts. I began an e-commerce business selling succulent arrangements and succulent party favors online to customers across the U.S. and continue to learn from groups and social media.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with clients simply wanting one pot refreshed to those who want ALL of their front and backyard pots redone. My potted landscaping clients have become customers who've purchased my beautiful centerpiece arrangements for their homes, or gift arrangements for occasions, so I've worked with just about every kind of customer at this point, whether they want something large or small.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I loved working with my client to refresh her window boxes, and provide monthly maintenance to her for these potted "gardens." They are thriving and have become more colorful and beautiful as time goes on. She'd originally had only 3 small nursery plants in each box, and now she's got gorgeous full "gardens" in each one.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
My advice is to chat with them over the phone. I have the best interactions with clients who are willing to have a quick phone conversation to meet me and learn how I might help them. There's no obligation or pressure from me. Texting is initially great, but a quick chat puts my customers at ease, lets them know I'm an expert in my work, and allows me to answer their more detailed questions. Plus, if you decide not to proceed, you've got a feel for whether you've got a great contact for a future job!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Know the results you're aiming for, even if they're lofty to start. You can always whittle things down or complete a job in increments, rather than all at once if cost or time is an issue. Let your expert fine-tune the project to meet your top priority and work with you to include other details you find important. Secondly, consider these three things: Pricing, Project Duration, Workmanship - and know that you can have any two, but not all three. You can get the lowest price, done quickly, but the workmanship will not be the best. You can have great workmanship, completed quickly, but it won't be cheap. You get the idea. Again, it's about your priorities for the project, so consider that first. In my business. full service is paramount. As a business owner and service provider, I go to great lengths to ensure my customers are vary satisfied with the end result. I typically spend more time on their projects than they see outwardly (planning, prepping, buying and picking up supplies, delivering their finished product, or spending extra time to complete a job, even if it's beyond our scheduled contract). My pricing tiers have been established through time and experience, are fair to my customers, and allow me to be fairly compensated, so it's a win-win!
