Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My base rate is 40.00 per hour.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I offer a free in-person consultation prior to hiring. I love working with new homeowners and people who are open to new ideas. I try to make the most of what you already have on site. By using local resources I keep material costs down.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have completed numerous organic agriculture internships and I have a B.A. in Geography.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have been gardening for as long as I can remember. In high school, I worked on my first organic vegetable farm and I was immediatedly hooked. I continued to work on organic farms and gardens through college. After college I ran a market garden in Hampton, Va. For 5 years I worked for an organic landscaping company in Chatham, NY. Upon moving to Cortland, I decided it was finally time to strike out on my own.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I really enjoy working with new homeowners and people with wild jungles that need taming. I love the process of uncovering a landscape and taking out the debris to reveal something beautiful.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I spent last weekend in a new clients back yard which was tremendously over grown. In the process of cleaning up the leaves, removing weeds and cutting out dead material, I found a lovely deer-tolerant shade garden. I love revealing what has been there all along.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I make recommendations that are fundamentally benefical to your yard, as an ecosystem. If I succeed at my job eventually your garden will be a self sufficient entity. Through the process of building soil fertility I will give you your healthiest, most beautiful garden.
