Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Cat Mojo Interiors LLC offers different packages depending on the level of service needed for your project. First and foremost we offer white-glove turn-key design services for kitchen and bath remodels, whole house renovations and new construction.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We start with an initial phone chat to discuss your needs and goals for the project. This is where some questions get answered for both parties and we decide whether or not we are a good fit for each other. we will set a date for an Initial Design Consultation where we will discuss your project, review the space, and get more detailed about budgets and timelines.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I studied Interior Architecture at Boston Architectural College in Boston after earning a degree in Architectural Design and certificates in Construction Management from Three Rivers Community College in Norwich CT. While in school as a non-traditional student, I worked full time, putting myself through design school and working full time on commercial interiors projects in and residential design and project management.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
LEGOs. Dad's drafting templates. Childhood dreams. I followed my passion and took opportunities that provided the growth, skills, and experiences necessary to get me where I am today. My career began with designing an airport terminal building in 2003 before landing a position with the general contractor on a massive casino, hotel and convention center. I continued to work full-time in commercial construction management while I put myself through school. By 2009 I moved on to commercial interior design for a number of years, working in Boston on federal and military contracts. Later, I moved back to CT and into the residential side of design, assisting homeowners at a national tile and stone showroom and more particularly designing custom kitchens, bathrooms, and cabinetry projects. Today, I provide full interior design and project management services for both residential and commercial clients.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I work with homeowners, businesses and corporations building, renovating or upgrading their spaces from kitchen renovations to whole house remodels, tenant fit-outs and new construction. I work with the contractor, builder or architect to ensure the best possible outcome for your project needs and desires.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A client renovated her entire home from the ground up. She and her husband worked with an architect to design the home but left a few things to figure out later on during construction. While the contractor was in the middle of construction, she hired me to guide her through finishing out the home. We selected all the finishes and I procured all the cabinetry, fixtures and specialty finishes. We went through every detail of her home to make sure she was happy with the final result. My involvement during the final fit-out phase lasted roughly 6 months.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Understanding your goals, budget and timeline beforehand are great starting points. But if you don't know, that's okay! My job is to first get down to the brass tax details of the project in order to provide my clients with the experience of entering the place which reflects their true desires and supports their greatest needs.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Why do you want to change your space? What do you want to achieve in the space? What is your design style? What's your budget? Timeframe? How do you see this relationship with a designer playing out? What are your expectations for design services, the cost of services and the cost of materials?
