Introduction

I have been in the trades for over 30 years and was previously a licensed GC in Southern California before relocating to Idaho 20 years ago. I have experience in many areas from building a new home to fixing minor honey do lists around the house. I do give free estimates and any estimates given over the phone are just an estimate since the dynamics are always different from job to job. Thank you for your time To see a project from start to transform into the Vision that the customer has at completion.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I can bid jobs by the project or small jobs by the hour. $75 for the first hour and $55 for each additional hour plus materials. The choice is yours.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to come out not only to look over the project but to find out specific needs of my customers. It allows for them to meet me and me to meet them and hopefully build some trust in the process.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I’ve been in the trades for over 30 years. When I lived in Southern California I was a licensed General Contractor for a number of years building custom homes, kitchen and bathroom remodeling as well as some TI work on occasion.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started when I was 14 working for my brother who is currently a General Contractor in So Cal. He needed the help and I wanted to learn so at the time it was a good fit.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
The latest was a small bathroom remodel due to a water leak in the toilet. After all the demo was done and walls and flooring were dried out I fixed all the drywall and retextured to match existing and painted each of the rooms affected. Then installed the vanity, faucet and countertop and wall mirror and toilet. Then installed new vinyl plank flooring and base trim. The job took about 9 days total time.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Be as specific as you can from the type of the job or the scope of work. For exampIe if you need flooring let us know what kind of flooring you need. Laminate plank flooring, vinyl plank, linoleum, hardwood or carpet instead of just saying need flooring. Also, don't be afraid to ask questions. The more questions you ask the more likely you will get a finished product that you were looking for with the right contractor.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Have some idea of a budget you are trying to stay with. I personally like to find out if someone is looking at doing some extensive work I need to know where there budget is. Knowing what the customer has to work with helps me to guide them or let them know whether the job is realistic or not within that budget. Don't be afraid to ask for referrals. Just because the quote you got for your project looks really good because its lower than everyone else doesn't mean they know what they're doing.
