Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our design consultations start at $300 and include on-site or virtual time, detailed notes, and follow-up recommendations. From there, we tailor services to each client’s goals—whether you're furnishing a space, planning a remodel, or selecting finishes. We aim to guide smart investments for your home.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We begin with a consultation to align on your goals and how your space should function. We create a customized proposal that outlines the scope, budget, and design approach. From there, we guide you through selections and planning, and coordinate with your contractor or our trusted partners. Our role is to keep the process organized, efficient, and tailored to your vision every step of the way.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our owner, Brittany Hanson, has formal training and a degree in interior design and over a decade of experience. She's worked on projects ranging from full home and commercial remodels to detailed furnishing selections, always with an emphasis on quality, function, and personal style. With Brittany's close oversight and mentorship on each project, the Hanson Haven team is a close knit group!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
For Brittany, design started as a creative outlet when she was younger, and took a few weeks towards an Accounting degree to realize that wasn't the path she wanted to move forward with. A swift change in majors and finishing her BA in Interior Design, quickly grew into a career. "I found that I had a knack for creating spaces that felt intentional, layered, and personal. Over time, I built Hanson Haven to serve clients who want more than just pretty rooms—they want lasting comfort, beauty, and functionality in every detail. I'm very detailed, so making thoughtful designs that fit everyone's needs is essential."

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Hanson Haven clients range from busy families and new homeowners to real estate investors and developers. The common thread? They value great design, trust my guidance, and want a space that feels uniquely their own. I work with clients both locally and across the country, with flexible services to meet various levels of support.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently redesigned a main floor for a growing family—updating flooring, cabinetry, lighting, and furnishings. It took about five months from concept to install. The result was a space that blended their lifestyle with timeless design.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Design is a collaborative process, so hire someone who listens well, communicates clearly, and can guide you through decisions with confidence. Look for someone who offers both creative vision and process clarity—like Hanson Haven—to help avoid overwhelm and costly mistakes. It's also helpful if they have a fun personality, as it can be a long and sometimes stressful process!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
It helps to consider your timeline, budget range (there is always a budget that you do/don't feel comfortable with), priorities, and how involved you want to be. Think about whether you're working with existing contractors or need referrals. The clearer your vision, the better your designer can deliver a tailored plan, including phased planning and budget-building.
