Typically, it's best to set up a meeting to get an idea of what they are thinking and wanting in a project. From there we discuss different items that will help us both come a mutual understanding of how to move forward with estimates, schedules, etc...

Make sure the contractors are 1st, someone you really trust, as they will be in your home / life for the duration of the project, and even longer. Make sure you can relate and get along with them, through thick and thin, because you will experience all types of emotions throughout the process of building...
