I have been cleaning houses for over 30 years and grew up cleaning with my mother who owned her own company. I took to it naturally and I have a great eye for details. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

After the 3 hour Thumbtack quote I charge between $50-$100 an hour after that. I do give deals depending on the job.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

My mom owned her own cleaning business when I was growing up and she took me with her during the summers. She trained me as a deep cleaner at a young age and I had a knack for the details.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with all types of customers but I prefer the picky ones.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Really look at your house. Many times we stop seeing fingerprints and don’t realize how many things we touch throughout our day. Check your doors, baseboards and toe kicks for cobwebs, spills and fingerprints. All of these things take time to clean and seeing for yourself helps you communicate better with your cleaner as to the extent of cleaning needed. Most top to bottom deep cleaning takes about three hours per room so an entire house will take two or more 8 hour days. If you have a mouse infestation, please call hazmat, not me.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

The amount of time it takes to clean an entire house, including molding, the doors and door frames inside and out on both sides. Spindles on staircases, intricate wood furniture and intricate lights in bathrooms. The minute details are considered time suckers in the cleaning business so see how many time suckers are in your home when thinking about pricing big projects. Closet doors, ceiling fans, blinds and windows are time suckers too. Time sucker means it will take roughly an hour to complete each of these tasks in your home.
