Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We have a variety of cuisines and options to choose from. Many of our menus come from authentic recipes created by our chefs from many ethnic backgrounds. We source quality foods from our suppliers and present them beautifully on our buffets or on an individual platted meal.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Once we have an agreed upon menu and price, we collect a deposit and your event is booked. Easy.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I began apprenticing for my father at age 15 in our commercial kitchen and event center in Claremont, CA. I learned the art of garnishing, cooking techniques, and baking and decorating wedding cakes. I became an event supervisor at age 18 and took over sales and marketing at age 20. When my aging parents retired I was well equipped to take over the family business and have been honored to carry on the quality and professionalism they were well known for with Ambassador Catering.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My grandparents started catering with their family in the 1950s in Pasadena California. It carried on through my parents, and as a third generation in this family of caterers, I am honored to carry on the legacy started so long ago.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Over the 40+ years that our family has served in the catering business, we have worked with Brides planning a wedding, businesses providing lunch to their office or warehouse employees, corporate events and conferences where multiple meals are served, 10,000 people on a beach and a corporate party, small intimate settings in a home or private location, Holiday events, birthday parties, anniversaries, quinzcenieras, and any other type of event that may need foods.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently created a custom menu for a father who had passed away. He was Greek and loved Italian food so we fused the two cuisines together and created a beautiful meal. His family was so happy to honor his memory that way in addition to me tribute they gave him at his memorial.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would say to give as many details as possible when you’re looking for a caterer. Your menu ideas, your budget, your level of service. That way you can have a clear and customized quote for your event. Be sure you have a good rapport with your contact at the catering company. They should be prompt at responding and getting back to you, they should be willing to take your requests and give you peace of mind with their capacities.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is their date? How many guests, what type of food, what is their location and do they allow catering? How formal do they want it, and what is their budget?
