Introduction

I am a Futurist, that is, my job is to help you and your people understand what is and will be happening over the next 3-5 years so that you can accurately prepare for it. I am focused on making sure you know of the latest ideas, technology and movements that can help you and your organization thrive and succeed in this time of great change. I first provide an inspirational keynote that explains what is happening and how it will affect your industry. I also provide a scenario-solving session. With the help of a whiteboard, I provide a real time problem solving session for each scenario, using the tools and ideas of the new paradigm. As a value added item, I provide a platform for your organization’s promotional video to share your ideas, services, partnerships and opportunities to other organizations and communities on a global scale. I will be presenting this platform at the United Nations in August of 2018. This platform is provided free as part of my package to you. In addition, each person who attends the presentation will get a free year long subscription to the weekly vlog “A Futurist Briefing” where I share the latest trend information. There is nothing more powerful than meeting new people and sharing time with them around their challenges, their victories, their questions and answers. Being a people person, I am personally enthused to meet and work with folks from all walks of life.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing is market rate, but as interest in the Fourth Industrial Revolution continues to skyrocket, the rates may be affected in the near future. This rate includes transportation and lodging with half being issued as a down payment while the rest is due the day of the presentation. If there are special circumstances, of course I can work with you.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I initially will do a phone or Zoom interview with you to find out about areas of concern, ideas to forward and specific anniversaries. This interview will give me the springboard to do my own due diligence on the organization prior to the presentation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I received a Teaching Certificate from the State of Colorado, a BA in Journalism and Communications from the School of Journalism at Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. I am also a member of the International Institute of Inspiration Economies and member of the International Global Trends Academy. I am also a Fellow of Business Communications Fellow with the Walter Kaitz Foundation.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Being a trend analyst/futurist is the same as being a Journalist except you follow data and information outside of the normal news cycle. In fact, you follow the information over an extended period of time to figure out its impact. I developed my journalistic techniques by being a news anchor at WHBQ-AM in Memphis, a television reporter at WREG-TV in Memphis as well as a news announcer at WFOX-FM in Atlanta. I’ve written four books on personal and corporate transformation, so going further and doing trend analysis work was a natural outgrowth for me.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have had the widest range of clients simply because in this time of distinctive uncertainty, more and more people want to know how to plan for the immediate future. Some of my clients include high schools whose counselors are trying to figure out how to prepare students for a changing environment, colleges (Princeton, DePaul, University of Tirana--Albania, etc) to help students understand the necessary skills in a new job market, private companies (Lender Live, Mind Aptive) to help their employees understand the dramatic change their industries are going through, and public organizations (The CUNY System, New York, The Denver Chamber of Commerce) to help them develop policy and strategy on the coming changes.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently did a series of presentations at Baze University in Abuja, Nigeria. The organization that sponsored me didn’t have a lot of money and their means were modest, but it was one of the most satisfying gigs I ever did. The people were deeply appreciative and I had a great time being with them. Being paid for your services is always a good thing, but there’s something about being able to serve people and have them truly value your time is something special.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Ask THEM three questions: 1. What do you know about the Fourth Industrial Revolution. Many people talk about technological change, but those who understand how the Fourth Industrial Revolution will change planet earth have done their work. 2. How did you become a trend analyst or Futurist? I find that Journalistic training (following news stories outside of their regular news cycle) is the key to understanding what's going on. 3. What are you seeking to do? Know their intention from the outset.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Ask YOURSELF three questions 1. What is your end goal? Make sure the professional can help you meet it. That starts with knowing what it is. 2. Does the professional's personality match my organization's culture? Some professionals are very academic. Some are more informal and fun. Find out what works best for your crowd and hire accordingly. 3. What are the takeaways the professional provides? This helps you gauge value for your money.
