Q&A

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
When contacted by a potential new customer, the first step is for us to set up a free, in-home consultation which includes: measuring the project, quoting the project accordingly, and leaving the customer with a written version the estimated price. Once the customer decides on the product they would like, an order is placed and your new flooring is sent to our warehouse (about a week). We then schedule an installation date and the installers bring the product to your house on the day the job is to begin.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I obtained my business degree from the University of Maryland. I then began installing all types of flooring myself which led me to becoming a contractor and teaching my installers to do the same work. I stay up to date on all the latest flooring innovations by regularly attending continuing education seminars and working with new products that continue to evolve.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I began working for a floor cleaning distribution company when I first finished college and one of our customers on a job I was on asked if I could repair a piece of the tile before I left, which I completed and found it rather interesting and intriguing. I began installing floors myself for a while and later obtained my contractor's license to begin an installation company of my own with installers working under me that I personally trained.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Over the years, we have worked with many types of customers with a variety of personalities. This being said, we are confident in our ability to interact, communicate, and succeed with any and every customer that wants to come to us for business.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Our company recently completed a custom staining and refinishing project for a set of steps in a customer's house. The project took about 2 weeks from start to finish and the customer could not be more thrilled. Our company truly takes pride in satisfying our customers. We also bought and custom stained reclaimed hardwood to create a one-of-a-kind dining room table for a customer.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure the company/professional licensed and insured for your area of town. Look into how long the company has been in the business of installing floors. Also, check out how big the company is: how many installers/employees work for this company? Make sure the company has experience installing the flooring type specific for your project; some projects need special considerations and/or installation procedures to prevent future problems, so be sure the company/contractor is knowledgable about your project.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What type of flooring are you interesting in installing? What flooring must be removed beforehand? What is the approximate time frame needed in order to complete the project?
