Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We normally price our jobs by the square footage, ceiling heigth, along with the amount of angles that are involved. There are also other factors such as wall patching, priming, not to mention things like wallpaper removal and etc. However, we have been doing this for so long so no need to take up the homeowners time by manually measuring every room. During the walk through we capture a visual of each area and then formulate a quote that the customer will receive within 24-48hrs of the free consultation.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We provide a general quote on Thumbtack based on the request they submitted. Then we schedule a free on site consultation so we can put an eye on the project and better understand their goals and expectations. We then submit a accurate proposal within 24-48hrs. Once we are awarded the project, our companies standardized agreement is sent to the customer so they can review the terms and electronically sign. At that point their requested start date or next available start date is locked in on our company calendar.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We obtained a license for our line work based on the North Carolina license requirements. As of July 1st, 2015 The Privilege License Tax has been repealed in North Carolina for all businesses. As a result, no privilege license renewal applications will be mailed. However, we are constantly reading up on ways to improve our services from a professional standpoint, along with educating ourselves in our line of work. One of our goals is to always offer environmentally friendly products that can be used during the process.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My father was in the contracting business for over 30 years. As a kid, went everywhere with him and learned the majority of my skills under his supervision.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We have worked with all types of customers. From professional athletes, to doctors, country clubs, property management companies, department stores, shopping malls, to our everyday bread and butter residential customers. So whether commercial or residential we have you covered!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I was referred to service a business with painting and floor care needs by an employee of that business that I serviced 7 years prior to receiving a quote request. She explained to her employer how detailed we were during her residential project, and thought we could provide that same level of service for her workplace.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Never settle on price alone! Many customers look at the lowest bid and receive below par service in return. Focus on a good balance of quality and affordability which is a successful equation for both parties.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1. Should I hire a painting company that's licensed, bonded, insured or just hire someone without certain credentials and safeguards? 2. How many years of experience would we prefer the painters have? 3. Do we have the necessary budget for the amount of work were requesting? 4. Are painting walls, trim, and ceilings? 5. Will priming be necessary based on the current color or the next color to be applied? 6. What is our desired turn around time from start to finish? 7. What type of payment methods do we prefer the company offer?
