Introduction

We are a locally owned and operated flooring store serving the Akron, Canton, and south Cleveland area. Our Design Associates go to our customer's location with a mobile showroom filled with over 3,000 samples of all types of flooring including carpet, hardwood, luxury vinyl, engineered tile and stone, and laminate. We provide a complimentary consultation complete with inspection and measurement of the project, review of samples and the presentation of a detailed quote. We then manage the project from start to finish, ensuring our customer's complete satisfaction and enjoyment of their new space. We are so excited to bring this personalized service to our customers and we are committed to providing to best in-home flooring experience, working collaboratively with our customers to find products that meet their needs, match their styles and fit their budgets. We also enjoy being able to give back to our communities- our company donates money to and raises awareness for different organizations each month (our Monthly Missions) and we have a partnership with St. Jude Children's Research Hospital to donate a portion of proceeds of certain products to help raise money to find cures. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We don't have any price gimmicks or ""one week only sales"". There are no ""buy 2 rooms get 1 free"" type of stuff. We simply offer the best products from the best manufacturers, using the most qualified installers, at an everyday great value. Our prices are always all-inclusive, with no change-orders. Once we give you a price, it stays that way even if your job becomes more complex once we remove your current flooring. There are no surprises, and you will not pay your balance until you are completely satisfied with result.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When we go to a customer's home for their free consultation we take the time to find out what their wants and needs are for their space. We measure the space, view and discuss different samples, and provide a detailed quote for the project. We help them find products that fit their family's lifestyle and budget. We know that what works for one family, may not be a practical choice for another and we have many child and pet friendly options that not only perform well, but also look beautiful!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Everybody in the Floor Coverings International family receives 100's of hours of computer based and hands on training. We visit the home office in Atlanta 2-4 times a year for specialized workshops. We meet monthly with our reps from each company to learn the latest installation techniques and tips to get the most longevity and performance out of each product we carry. Every installer is scrutinized for certifications, references, years of experience, and overall talent. We aren't looking for a bargain when it comes to installers, we are looking for the best available at a good value.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I researched 100's of companies, and Floor Coverings International had the best support system available. I also love the opportunity to work in my community and get to meet so many amazing people.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We have worked with a wide variety of different customers- from newly married couples in their first homes to first time grandparents wanting to update spaces for their grandchildren to play in! We've had the pleasure of working with young, active families with children and pets as well as those whose children have grown and they are updating their house to sell. We have been able to get new flooring for home buyers before their moving trucks came with all the furniture, too! We help landlords with rental properties and we install commercial jobs. We really enjoy doing it all!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We recently transformed the entire first level of a home in Stow and it looks gorgeous! We removed over 1600 square feet of carpet and 2 1/4 inch golden oak hardwood and replaced it with a warm, rich, Molasses color of 5 inch wide solid hickory hardwood that is slightly handscraped and distressed. We took off the old carpet runner on the waterfall staircase and stained the stairs to match the floor. Pictures are coming soon once all the boxes are unpacked and the homeowners get settled in from the move!! It is stunning!!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Please make sure when you are speaking with a professional about your project that you find out EXACTLY what their quote includes. There is so much more to a project than simply the cost of the material and when we give a price it includes everything from start to finish. Our proposals account for standard or heavy furniture moves; the removal and haul away of the existing floor (if needed); the removal and installation of existing and/or new trims and transitions; the type of installation (float, glue, nail, staple); any subfloor prep or underlayments that might be needed; the product itself; freight and tax. We take the time to go over all of that upfront which is why we never just give a price over the phone or online without first being in the home to assess everything. Our customers know exactly what they are getting and never need to worry about hidden costs being added along the way!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

What is the look and feel you are trying to accomplish? Are you focused more on achieving a certain look, or on achieving a certain level of performance/durability. Prioritize the projects in your home. The things that will increase your home value are flooring, kitchen, and bathrooms, in that order.
