Introduction

Our prep work is second to none. We are extremely thorough with cleaning and making sure the subfloor is as flat and sound as possible. A quality prep job is key to a perfect installation. I enjoy the finished product. A job well done makes me feel good. I will never leave a job looking any worse then what I would have in my own house. I was always taught to never do something less than your absolute best.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
There is a price list that I go by depending on what type of material is being installed. I do also have a minimum square foot price for each material.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
My preference is to see the project before I give any sort of estimate. I can ballpark a quote sight unseen, but to be as accurate as possible, it's best to see the project. That is why we offer free estimates.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
4 years local union shop 314 floor covering training program.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started back in 2005 at Hughes Flooring installing mostly commercial flooring. I learned from some of the best installers in the area. After that I completed a 2 year associates degree in business management. In 2010 I returned to Hughes and completed my 4 year journeymans program through the local union school.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All types from landlords to families to large scale commercial projects.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Recently I installed a hickory hardwood floor that turned out amazing. The customer went a little more high end on the cost of the hickory material, but it made a difference. This was the most high quality hardwood I've ever worked with. It showed in the finished product.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure they have experience. Hiring an actual flooring installer instead of just a handyman is going to be the best choice. I believe if you are ok at many trades, you might not be the best at any of them. There are many fly by night installers out there who may be cheap, but you will get what you pay for. Lowest cost doesn't always mean better. A floor is something you will look at everyday so any flaws will stick out.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Are there any other costs to do the job besides just installation of the floor. Such as patching the floor flat, height difference of old/new floor, transitions, moving furniture, and removal of trim.
