Introduction

IMPORTANT: I do not do lawn services, tree removal, tree trimming. PLEASE DO NOT MESSAGE ME ABOUT THESE SERVICES as I will be charged for your message. Do not message me unless you are looking specifically for landscape design and installation, basic maintenance like watering, edging, and mulching, or weeding. Those are the only services I offer. I combine traditional landscape experience combined with specialized native plant knowledge to both design and install a garden that gives you the outdoor space you dreamed of when you bought your home! I offer a DIY option that you can read more about on my website. I mainly do landscape design and installation but I also offer weeding services. If you are interested in a home or commercial landscape that requires zero watering and only one mow a year, let's talk about turning your lawn into a meadow! You can schedule me for a consultation for that on my website.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
If a client is interested in my landscape design/build services, consultations are $50 and payment must be received 24 hours prior to the appointment. Other services may or may not require an in-person visit - that's up to my discretion.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I schedule a quick phone call (under 15 minutes) to say our how-do-you-dos, to chat briefly about what they'd like to have done, and (if the client wants a landscape design) to set up a time to come out to see the yard for an in-person consultation.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have worked all over plant-related fields - as a traditional landscape crew member, in horticultural retail, in agriculture, and as a native plant landscape designer. I also study plants in my spare time - especially plant medicine. All that gives me a wide range of information to draw upon - and I draw upon all of it frequently!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was very connected with my yard as a child but I sort of lost that love as I got older. About 10 years ago I got interested in vegetable gardening and it woke up that dormant part of myself. I soon moved on to ecology, native plants, and traditional landscaping and never looked back.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All residential clients. I love exploring people's relationships with their yards!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I got to design and build a shady front yard bed. The homeowner was a bird lover and watched a bird feeder from that window so I got to accommodate the needs of the wildlife into her design which is one of my favorite things to do. It took about 7 weeks from beginning to end though that was partially due to the fact that I had to wait for some plants to be made available at the nursery and then had to make the trip to pick them up.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Don't say yes to the first person that says they're interested. Shop around a little first and then go with your gut.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
If you are picturing something in your head, tell me about it! Even if it's vague or you think it sounds impossible. Think about what your "absolutely must-haves" are and what your "this would be nice but I could live without its" are. It's easiest for me to meet and exceed your expectations when I know what those expectations are and what is most important to you about your vision.
