Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The fees and pricing are transparent in our estimate documents. We take time to explain everything. We are not the cheapest and that's based on the experience and skills provided. We are offering discounted rates for seasonal contracts or 1 time projects to kick off the spring. 10% off season contracts.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Mowing customers are typically quoted over the phone, text, or email. Other jobs require an in person visit to ensure measurements and scope of work is agreed upon by both customer and client. Then an estimate is drawn up and the client is given access to a personalized portal. Estimates, payments, and invoices are all kept in this portal for the lifetime of the relationship.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Our staff is both practically trained in the field and trained in the classroom. That training may vary between associates, but we only hire experienced people with years of relevant training.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
As the owner, I decided to leave a 20 year career and get back outside and create some fantastic living areas for people to enjoy. Prior to joining the Grounds Guys franchise, I was a long time leader of service providers in a different industry. Many of those "service first" principles carry over. Customer service is a phrase you hear all to often. I prefer customer satisfaction, and the Grounds Guys Satisfaction Guarantee matches with my personal beliefs.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All kinds, we have customers with smaller yards that require simple maintenance all the way to multi acre properties that require all kinds of services. Being a "full service" provider literally means that - "Full Service"

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I met an older couple that needed a significant cleanup of their home. Truck loads of leaves, bushes trimmed, fallen trees cleared, sticks, and brush cleared. Lots of work. As we were clearing, we found decorations buried in the yard. I was able to pull them out and reincorporate them into the final result. Turned out, some of these were items lost to time in the overgrowth. They were decorations made by the children that had once lived there. We were glad to restore some memories to the home.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure to get quotes from several and ask questions. An informed decision is the best decision. I would also make your decision based on the assumed quality of the outcome and not solely on the price. Get a service done right the first time rather than spending significant repair costs down the road.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is your budget? Have your done any research to get a ballpark pricing on your own? For larger projects - like planting new shrubs or considering types of stone or mulch, have some decisions ready. The preferences of the designer or the installer may not be what you want. How are you going to pay? monthly, weekly, full season?
