Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
When it comes down to pricing, I like to submit comprehensive cost analysis proposals. I believe the customer should understand precisely what they pay for and realize that some projects are cost-effective while others are not. The customer deserves that transparency.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to provide white glove service in an often dirty job. I will engage the customer in their project and thoroughly explain how we execute the job. We will respect their property and daily life. Company vehicles and equipment will be parked in client-designated areas to ensure an unencumbered daily life. We will review the job's specifics with the customer and prep the job site accordingly. We will respect property lines and personal property and use appropriate measures to mitigate damage. We will clean the job site upon project completion and remove our footprint altogether.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have 15 years of working in the United States government in construction project management and construction contracts. I have 10 years in land management and lot repurposing. I have honorably served in the United States Army and work at Veterans Affairs to this day, where I serve initiatives to help veterans and their families. I am an alumnus of Havard Business School and bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to this trade and my business.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I bought a large tract of ugly land to build my home. It had bad drainage, overgrowth, and tons of junk trees. I asked for quotes to help me make it functional and manageable. The quotes I received were ridiculous and often more than what I paid for the lot. I felt that there must be better options, so I decided to do it myself. As the years went by, I was helping people who thought they couldn't afford these types of projects and was assisting the owners in realizing their dream and vision for their property and long-term investment.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Everyone! From Single-family homes on a quarter acre to 1500-acre farms and everything in between!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We received a call because a wind storm devastated a property. This homeowner called everyone, and the quotes were outrageous. We submitted our quote, and the customer shot us look like we were crazy. Admittedly, I went on an apology tour and was interrupted by your hired. It took us one day to clean this property. They were so ecstatic that they hired us to manicure their woods! Honestly, I just wanted to help them feel more comfortable about the situation, and it ended up working out for everyone.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
This is a loaded question. There is so much to express, but I'm not one to demean other providers. We all have to make a living. Know what you need and demand the best thorough services.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What are the exact details of the job? Would this contractor be able to provide the totality of services? The cost increase is significant if the provider has to sub out small specifics of the job or rent equipment. Are you prepared for the price of the job? Different jobs may require different equipment that can reduce or increase the cost of executing the services. Will this business provide me with a comprehensive cost analysis or blanket quotes? Mountaineer believes in transparency with our bids and provides itemized proposals. Do you know if these services will complete your needs? When do you need the services executed? Demanding immediate services is OK; we all want things done now, but be prepared to pay more. Immediate or Emergency services require the business to pull resources from one job to service another or pull employees from their homes while enjoying dinner with the children. These incur new expenses to the company and ultimately cost more to provide.
