Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Asking to put a price on something as invaluable as memories that last generations is difficult. I work with close attention to detail, with the highest technology (on-site and in the office), and extensive hours of training and investment of time and energy into making every single session a well-rounded and satisfying experience for my clients. That being said, I am flexible with creating customized packages for my clients - especially those who would like to buy multiple sessions or add-ons, such as albums, up-front. Please inquire with your needs and we can create a package for you.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Each time I work with a new customer my primary aim is to understand: who they are, what pictures they dream of having, and how my style will translate to tell their unique story. I like to connect with my clients on a personal level so that the experience is not only enjoyable but comfortable and feels like you're hanging out with a friend, not just a stranger with a camera. I'm great at directing people while still letting natural moments happen within a session. This puts people at ease right away because they understand I'm an expert and I have real experience as a model, so I've been on both sides.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I earned my degree in photojournalism with a minor in sociology at Cal State Fullerton back in 2009, since then I've attended photo workshops around the globe with top photojournalists and storytellers from National Geographic, Time, New York Times, Wall Street Journal and so on. I've also worked with top wedding photographers in workshops in Mexico and Peru and various parts of the U.S. Each experience helps me grow as a professional and as a person -- first and foremost, all we wanna do as [really extraordinary] photographers is connect with our subjects and tell their story in the best light.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I used to always "borrow" my mom's Canon Powershot to capture moments with my friends and share them with everyone I knew. I loved stopping time and sharing the joy of what I saw from an early age, but it was when I was about 19 years old that I became a model and really fell in love with the process of the photo session. I wanted to get on the other side and be more creative - so after a fateful modeling gig in Cabo San Lucas, I decided to purchase a Canon Rebel XT and learned how to use it with an online class. After that, I changed my major from Psychology to Photojournalism and the rest is history. :)

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Real people who want beautiful images and trust me to capture them.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure you get along with your photographer, that you've seen their work and how they tell a story with their camera, and don't just look at the price tag! You get what you pay for, most times.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
It's always great to know what your intention is with your photographs - Do you want to display them in your home? Do you want albums? Will they be made into Christmas cards? Are they for your social media presence and brand messaging? Having a clear idea of how you want to best utilize the images made will help your professional create custom art for you that will be everything you'd hoped it would be and then some.
