Introduction

I'm here to elevate your visual brand! I have over a decade of experience behind the camera and have shot almost every style within that time. Since graduating with my BFA in photography, my aim has always been to bring the "art" to commercial art, and create eye-catching and clean images. I pride myself on efficient, quality work at a fair price. While my focus is commercial photography, I also like to stay busy and can accommodate pretty much anything! Here's how I approach some different styes: Conferences and Events - Read the room! I make sure to acknowledge the intention of my client with my lens and match the vibe in the photos. If it's a conference, they will be clean and professional - almost like candid portraits. Parties, I get a little looser with the art direction (especially if there's a dance floor involved!) I tend to balance the "fly on the wall" candid images with posed group shots. Interior & Architecture - I've been doing this the longest out of any style. I approach these shoots from an editorial view rather than real-estate. Meaning I prefer to champion the unique design aspects, rather than the bones of the house itself. Think Peerspace/Airbnb rather than Zillow. Headshots/Portraits - Headshots can vary based on your needs. I love the editorial style where I show the client interacting within a space, while also providing the necessary close-up traditional portrait. If you like what you see in my portfolio, feel free to reach out about booking at @keylightstudiola - I don't pride myself on being the cheapest photographer in town; let's make some quality photos!!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Not all photography is created equal so my pricing structure depends on many things. In general, event photography starts at $250 for the first hour and is $100/hr after that. Architecture is based on the what type of images the client is seeking (ie. peerspace vs real-estate vs commercial) Some projects may also require renting a studio or additional equipment. Don't hesitate to reach out and ask, I am friendly and transparent!!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to start with a phone call and sharing any reference photos you are looking to recreate. Being on the same page when it comes to art-direction allows me to make sure the end product is just as good as you expect. If necessary, we will negotiate prices according to the expectations.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I majored in Photography and got my BFA from the Hite Art Institute in Louisville, KY in 2014. Since then, I have worked as a full-time photographer, the last 5 of those years growing my own business here in Los Angeles.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I got hooked shooting fine-art when I took a film class in college. I loved it so much I ended up getting my degree in it and got a job right after graduating. Making money with my camera is almost as fun as making art with it!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've worked with large companies like Disney, Airbnb, Travel Channel, Kellogg's, etc... all the way to regular folks and little kid's birthdays. I just love shooting and if I feel like it will be a fun project that pays fairly, I'm in!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I have been shooting for a real-estate developer recently. Their marketing team requests images of all the styled penthouses, exterior architecture, and city shots in general. I really get to show off my versatility with shoots like these. I start the day shooting interiors and end it capturing the bustling neighborhood restaurants, shops, and parks. This is about 7 hours of shooting and 6 hours of post-production.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
If something seems too good to be true it usually is. There are A LOT of photographers out there and it's tempting to go with the cheaper route. If you have high standards and want to limit stress, go with the better portfolio rather than the better price.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Do I have an idea of what I'd like the finished project to look like? (mood board/art-direction) Is it cheaper to ship a product to me rather than rent a studio and pay for travel? What date/time of day is best to shoot this? When is the deadline? Do the images I'm expecting to receive rely on a lot of editing/retouching? How many total images am I hoping to receive?
