What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I try to make my pricing as accommodating as I can! Photography is expensive. It is more than just snapping a photo and calling it a day! There’s a lot of gear, editing software, memory cards, travel fees, location searching, etc. I do my best to reach middle grounds with my clients as needed, but please keep in mind my fees/rates are already priced as best I can based on area, expenses, etc.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
My bookings are on a first come, first serve basis! If you want to book but are still shopping around for other photographers (which is completely fine) in the mix of conversation, the date you may want might get taken to some who eagerly wants it, and I would hate to have to say I am not available for your requested shoot anymore!
A tip: Narrow down to your top three favorite photographers, it helps with your search for finding the one that fits best, as well as knowing you might have a better chance to still have your requested date available! Communication is key and I am always willing to accommodate to schedule/location changes! Anything to get you the photos you’ll keep for a life time!
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Online seminars, workshops, and of course YouTube! I am always open to learning and expanding my craft.
How did you get started doing this type of work?
I’ve always loved photography since I can remember. My mom bought me my first camera when I was 16 and I knew it was something I always loved and enjoyed. It wasn’t until after college I decided I wanted to do this professionally! Once I was able to save up my own money, I bought my first DLSR camera and instantly fell in love with the idea that I could have creative control when capturing the photos I wanted. Whether that be behind the camera or in front , I find such enjoyment capturing real, fun, moments!
What types of customers have you worked with?
I have worked with couples, families, birthdays, bridal showers, newborns, graduations, and weddings!
Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?
A recent project I loved, is the couple photoshoot I did at Sunset Cliffs Beach! I have such a special excitement for capturing emotions! Especially emotions related to love! There’s something so special about being in the moment with my clients! The editing process took about 2 weeks, and I honestly enjoyed it; and getting to play with color hues post production!
What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?
Communication is key! Communicating ideas, price, contracts, etc so that way both you and your photographer are on the same page! I can’t speak for all photographers but the more questions that are asked and answers the better the relationship between the photographer/client will be! And lastly, making sure the photographers style of work matches to your taste and expectations, do not try to push or change their editing styles out of respect for the photographer. Editing takes hours upon hours and we all have different styles for a reason! There are many photographers that will fit your needs; research is key :)
What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?
Clients are always welcome to ask as many questions as they want! Please don’t be hesitant! Whether that be locations suggestions, outfit suggestions, props, contract questions, experience, photo delivery times, preparations, etc! We are professionals for a reasons and are here to answer the questions you’ve got! :)
