Introduction

Hi there! Thank you for stopping by. We are Luis and Jessie and we’re a married team of photographers. We’re based in the San Francisco Bay Area which is also where we grew up. We’ve been together for 10 years, married for 5, and photographing as a team for over 3 years. You’re going to read stories from a lot of photographers about how, “Photographing weddings has been their calling since they were a baby”, and how they were, “carrying a camera ever since they could walk”. Truth is, none of that applies to us. We both come from traditional science and engineering backgrounds. At the same time, we have also had an artistic side to us that we were never quite able to shake off – Luis took 3 years of art in high school and a couple of design classes in college, while Jessie took several years of pottery in college. Photography was something that we always enjoyed ever since we got our first DSLR cameras over a decade ago, and as time went by and we honed our skills, we came to be the designated “go-to” picture takers at family events. It wasn’t until more recently that we decided to turn our passion and talents into something we could share with others. When we’re not out photographing weddings or editing pictures, you’ll probably find us at home enjoying our time as new parents with our baby girl, Elie, or playing with our yellow lab, Taro.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We believe in transparency. You already have enough planning to do, so why make it harder? On our website, you can find the full pricing for everything we offer. If you’re looking for slightly different options, please contact us and we can work with you to provide a more customized experience. Just Google "Luis & Jessie Photography" and you should be able to find us.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
There are 3 steps: 1. If you like what you seen and you think we would be a good fit, please contact us and tell us a bit more about what you’re looking for! We’ll reach back out to you to gather a few more details. We also like to set up a phone/video call for a quick meet-and-greet. However, we’re also more than happy to do everything by email/text if you feel more comfortable that way. 2. When you’re ready to move forward, you’ll need to provide us with a non-refundable retainer of $1,000 in order to lock everything in. We will send over a questionnaire together with a vendor agreement and details on how to provide the retainer. 3. About 30 days prior, we will set up a final check-in just to go over any last-minute changes that we should be aware of. Once everything is ready to go, we will see you on your big day! Afterwards, your final image gallery will then be delivered about 6-8 weeks later.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Of course! Most clients we work with have never really done any sort of formal posing. But don’t worry! We have several easy to follow poses that we will walk you through. One piece of advice we like to give is to try to be as relaxed as possible and just “be yourself”. This includes things like joking around with your partner and being playful with each other as you normally would if we weren’t there. We find that this type of direction leads clients to be a bit more fluid and it makes for some really great natural-looking images.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
It started as a hobby photographing friends and family. One day, we decided to try doing it professionally and the rest was history.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Couples of all types for weddings of all shapes and sizes.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Definitely take a good look at their entire portfolio and ask to see full client galleries. Communication is also key so you'll want to work with someone that you can reach easily and who responds to your messages quickly.
