Hi all! My name is Brittani and I’m a wedding photographer in the Bay Area. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The deposit to lock in your date is 25% of your total cost. Pricing is pretty straightforward. No discounts, but I can customize a wedding package for you based on your needs for the day. All booked weddings include a mini engagement session.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Via messaging, I'll direct you to a (private) pricing guide page where you can view my packages and full wedding galleries. We'll meet over Zoom to get introduced. During our call, we'll talk details and expectations to see if we're a good fit for each other. If everything aligns, I'll draft up a contract for you to review and e-sign. Then we plan!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I've been shooting weddings and elopements since 2017. Have shot over 100 at this point.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was given my first point and shoot camera in 2013 as a gift. I started out taking landscape/nature photos, then eventually my friends would start asking me to take their photos. By 2014 I was doing family portraits here and there. It snowballed and I decided to start a business eventually specializing in weddings and elopements.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All kinds. I don't discriminate. Most people who gravitate to me tend to be kind-hearted and genuine at the core.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
First and foremost, you have to get along with the person. As a wedding photographer, I spend more time with couples on their wedding day than any other vendor. The day goes by so much smoother and you'll be much more comfortable with someone you like by your side and photographing your intimate moments than someone who makes you go "uhh... šŸ‘€" even if their photos are amazing. Secondly, make sure you like the editing style. Sooo many different styles nowadays (trendy, classic, creative, etc.). Ask to see full galleries and disclose any reservations before you sign your contract.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
From most to least important: 1. Do I like this photographers editing style (timeless vs. trendy)? 2. Do I like this photographers shooting style (candid vs. posed)? 3. Are they within my budget? And if the answer is no, do you have room to cut costs elsewhere?
