What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

When paying for photography services, you are paying for the photographer's time to photograph you, the time to perform any edits and retouches, as well as the quality of the camera and lens. These are all factors in the final cost.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I will determine what type of photographs you are looking for (ex: portraits, maternity, artsy), what type of location (ex: beach, forest, city), and how long a session they desire. We can do multiple outfits and locations.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a bachelor's degree in film from San Jose State and have applied all my knowledge to photography. My skills cover landscape photography, portraits, construction, real estate, and sports. I have filmed in locations all over the world from East Africa to Hawaii.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I became fascinated with shooting and editing video in the late 90s and eventually received a bachelor's degree in that field. My photography really took off 5 years ago when I purchased my Nikon DSLR.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with construction and landscaping companies as well as high school seniors for their yearbook photos. I have also photographed families, recently engaged couples, and weddings.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I recently created a Covid-19 video response for a physical therapist in Monterey. This is now on their website to show customers how they are staying clean and sanitized. We shot this over two different days but it only took about 3.5 hours overall. They had the final video within a week.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Look at a photographer's website before booking. This way you know what type of look you are getting. You can easily see their style and quality.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Ask about their process and what exactly you are paying for. Understand how many photos you will receive and when you will receive them. This answer will vary by the job. Obviously for weddings you will get way more photographs than a 1 hour portrait session.
