Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My quoted fee is all-inclusive. This includes consultation, shooting time, and final retouched images delivered as high-resolution (300 dpi) JPG image files. You own full rights to all images.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Time permitting, I like to schedule a call or an in-person meeting to discuss the details of the shoot and review logistics. We can review your image needs and how they will be consumed by your customers (web, social media, print, email). This will determine how we shoot the images.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I studied Chemistry at Carnegie Mellon University and earned an MBA at Johns Hopkins University. I worked in IT for my early career before pursuing Commercial Photography as a full-time profession. I've found that I'm good at it because I love it and and am 100% committed.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I got started shooting professional boxing in 2009 and my career evolved from professional sports to commercial photography based on my interests. I enjoy working with businesses to create images that help develop their brand.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've worked with a wide array of customers in the San Francisco Bay Area from large established corporations to startups. Some familiar names include Genentech, Hyatt Hotels, Stanford University, and Hotel Tonight.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I'm fond of all my projects and the people I meet but I enjoyed shooting a lifestyle scene for a hotel rooftop bar in San Francisco. We had to simulate an evening at a bar but could not shoot during their business hours so we had to start at 4am. We got rooms in the hotel for everyone on the team including the models so we could start on time and pulled it off. Very gratifying!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
When looking for a photographer, I always recommend finding someone with the right style (everyone has a distinct style) and speak to them on the phone. Professionalism, courtesy, and responsiveness are important.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
How will your customers consume the images (web, print, social media, email)? How many images do you need? What's your timeline? Do you need models, props? Where can we shoot?
