Introduction

Read my reviews! You have to love what you shoot in order to get great shots and I love capturing the energy of love visually! I have been paid as a photographer for a very long time, starting in film when every shot counted and it took two weeks to see what you captured. It influences my work today, getting the best shots for you with the least effort as long as you bring your loving energy and listen. People have to smile at least once in order for anyone to capture it. I have done headshots, portraits, social networking profile shots, candids, news, aerial, pet, weddings, engagement, events and commercial photography. I even directed a movie that played in theaters. Cell phones made everyone think they were a photographer, but getting someone like me who knows lighting, composition and emotion can make all the difference. I can travel if needed, but prefer shooting locally on location.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I have been a paid professional photographer for many many years and you should be paying at least double what I am charging for my level of experience and talent, but since I am getting back into photography after being a Hollywood and New York movie and television director, you are getting a deep discount at the moment. After I rebuild my portfolio in the digital realm (as opposed to the film realm), my prices will increase dramatically. There are people with my level of experience charging $6,000 a day.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We talk. I make them comfortable. We meet in some locations I choose to make them look their best. I make them laugh and relax. We shoot. I give them an SD Card or transfer the shots to their computer the day of or send them a link to their shots or as soon as possible for them to use their shots. I don't make them wait for months like other photographers. The END.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have had a camera of one type or another in my hands every day taking photos since I was 7 years old and had a darkroom starting when I was 10 years old. I have been editing photos ever since that time. As a child, I practiced "drawing" my camera like a cowboy draws a gun to shoot candids before the "moment" disappeared, typically with a heavy 75-250mm zoom lens shooting on film.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I grew up in New York where there were shots to be photographed wherever I turned. Unlike most people today who think they are a photographer because their cell phone has a camera in it, I have spent many years working on composition, lighting and capturing emotion, starting on film where you had to get it "right" the first time.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have shot A list Academy Award winning Actors, Directors, Producers. I was hired in college to create a shot that ended up on the front cover of Architectural Digest. I have sold countless shots to newspapers of events as they happened. I have taken shots that people have used as their LinkedIn or other social networking profile shot. I love shooting pets and kids, composing shots you will always treasure. I am now working with my top of the line DJI Mavic 2 Pro drone with Hasselblad camera and 1 inch sensor doing aerial videography and photography for movies, television, commercials, real estate, architecture, nature and events.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I started filming with DJI drones and since I have always had in innate ability to "remote view" and imagine shots from any angle before the camera was placed in that position, I am finding this drone aerial videography and photography work to be magical. You can really "tell a story" with these shots!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Hire someone with experience who absolutely loves what they do and has been doing it since they were a child. This is how you know it is their passion. Passion gets you your best results when it comes to creative work.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Customers should think about their goals of what they want from their shots. Are the photos for themselves, their family, social media, work? Are they happy shots or image making shots and if they are image making shots, what image are they trying to portray? What is the feel they want from their photos; intimate, staged, posed, natural, real, humorous, conceptual, etc.? Do they want the photos to be shared on WhatsApp or to be blown up as a poster to display on their wall?
