Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing varies depending on the project. I take into account the time needed in order to complete the work. I am transparent with how I charge for the imagery. I am flexible and can work with any budget.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
With a new client, I enjoy speaking directly either in person or over the phone. It helps me get a better understanding of the project and how I can help facilitate the clients ideas. I like collaborating together and I know the importance of the photos.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a Bachelors Degree in commercial photography from Columbia College in Chicago. I have been working freelance in the photography industry full time for 6 years. I have worked together with other photographers on large scale productions as well as personal projects. I've worked together with photographers in all different fields. Interior, portrait, events, weddings, food, restaurant, packaging, product and beverage. I have also introduced Aerial photography as well. With the rise of professional drone imaging, I am able to capture stills as well as high quality video.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My background has always been creative. I spend the early years of college exploring the arts and came into photography through the suggestion of a friend. From there, I have spent the last 12 years working towards developing my skill. Under the guidance of some amazing professionals I've been able to shoot full time freelance.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with clients from many different aspects. Interior, real estate, Aerial photography, food, restaurant, food blogs and dieticitians, fitness, weddings, events, portrait, architecture etc.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently worked together with a food blogger on website images. Together we created a shot list for their website. We set a time to shoot the images. I staged and lit the images for lifestyle. After editing and creating an online gallery, the client and I selected some key images for their site. They received the images through a digital delivery system I use, Dropbox. After all said and done, the final images were delivered after about a week.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
If you are looking for a photographer, consider the professional who is transparent with their pricing as well as responding to your ask. Make sure you are clear with the approx number of images you want and don't be afraid to show inspiration images to the photographer. If you have a favorite image or favorite blog, send it our way! It's great to collaborate.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
How long is your event? What type of photography do you like? Be specific and show example if you're inspired. What is your realistic budget? Often times it costs more than you may think to capture the images. Especially if you're looking for a print, album or prints. I often suggest online print houses because high quality printing costs a lot. Also consider the time it takes for the event and the time to complete the work outside of the event. Photographers may seem more expensive but often times the detail and quality of their work is much better. Take a look at their website to see images.
