Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I have a traveling fee for distances over 50 miles.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I typically start off by getting some basic info from a client. (e.g. What they are looking for from the photos, any ideas or inspirations of locations, if they have a special mile marker coming up) Also, I have a short questionnaire that I send to my clients, which helps me learn a little more. It’s a great way to get to know each other and has proven to spark come creative ideas!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I recently passed my Certified Professional Photographer exam! Also, I love watching videos and reading about any new ideas for photography. I’m a sucker for practicing something a lot until I learn it. The most random things have been used at home to practice with!

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started photography six years ago, mainly taking photos of landscapes and wildlife. I was always open to portraits and gradually started to practice and learn. At the end of last year, I took a leap of faith and started my photography business. It’s been going well and I couldn’t have chosen a better time to start! I am passionate about my work and always strive to continue learning.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with numerous families, individuals, and children. Also, I have worked with event venues for corporate parties and parties!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
A recent project of mine was when I built a wooden bench prop to use for photoshoots. I stained it brown and beat it up to let it have a rustic and aged look. It came out great and has definitely been noticed!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would recommend potential clients to take their time and look at everything a photographer has to offer. Do they have a website with a portfolio? Do you like their style of photos? Were they welcoming and somewhat quick to respond to you? There’s many factors, but they definitely have a photographer out there that can suit your needs!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Honestly, having any sort of idea of what you’re interested in is a huge help. If there’s something you always wanted to do, but not sure about what photographer to ask, I’m your guy!! I love being creative and shooting different types of sessions. Anything from a location or a theme is a great start to planning!
