Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I ask for 30% of the price to schedule the date, which is non-negotiable! After deposit is made and contract is signed we schedule a video call to start planing your timeline to guarantee that everything will be perfect on the day of your event/session!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
When working with a new customer, my primary focus is to ensure a comprehensive understanding of their session expectations and my ability to fulfill them. It is crucial for me to gather as much information as possible to grasp the client's unique needs, style, and personality, as even the smallest details hold great significance. To maintain constant communication, I provide clients with the convenience of reaching out to me via email or text at any time. Additionally, I offer assistance in locating the most suitable nearby location and provide valuable consultation on wardrobe choices.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
Although my bachelor's degree in biology may not seem directly connected to photography, it was during my involvement in conservancy research 12 years ago that I discovered my passion for capturing dolphins through the lens. Since then, I have dedicated numerous hours to attending courses and workshops, constantly seeking to expand my knowledge. The world of photography is ever-evolving, and I firmly believe that there is always something new to learn. In fact, I am currently embarking on a new educational journey at SNHU, where I will be pursuing a degree in digital photography.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I pursued a biology major and unexpectedly found myself capturing wildlife through the lens of a professional camera for the first time. As word spread, friends began requesting me to photograph their children, leading to referrals and ultimately transforming me into a professional photographer. It feels as though photography discovered me rather than the other way around! Photography chose me!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Before finalizing any agreement, it's important to make sure that the portfolio meets your expectations. What you see in the portfolio is exactly what you'll get! Ask if photographer can provide you with a draft of the contract for you to review. Take your time to READ it carefully and make sure you're comfortable with all the terms and conditions. It's essential that you're both on the same page and have a clear understanding of the agreement.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Clients should always ask about the hours of coverage, the type of editing included, and if any print materials are part of the package they choose. It's also important to consider the photographer's experience because nowadays, everyone with a camera claims to be a photographer. Make sure to read your contract carefully and don't hesitate to ask questions if you're unsure about anything. If the location isn't personally significant to you, ask the photographer for their opinion on the best location. They know which spots have the best lighting, and good lighting is always key!
