Introduction

Thanks for viewing my profile! I'm an award winning freelance photographer, a vetted member of the American Society of Media Photographers (ASMP), and the American Photographic Artists (APA). Both hold their pros to the highest professional standards. From the strobe lighting in my North Downtown studio to the outdoors, corporate and personal events to theater productions, beautiful architectural photography, professional head shots, modeling and acting portfolios, product highlighting and many things in between, I offer my clients outstanding services and products, all at a very fair price. I have a long list of satisfied customers and would love to create something for you! - Don

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I don't like to lose jobs over a few dollars, so I often ask potential clients what their budget is, and do my best to meet them at a point that is comfortable for both of us. My entire fee is always up front and there are never any hidden charges.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Communication, and knowing exactly what my client wants from me. This is a partnership that works best when everyone is on the same page.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I was educated in macro and forensic photography at such institutions as the University of St. Louis School of Medicine, the Southern Police Institute, and others. Additionally I regularly collaborate with and get inspiration from some of the finest photographers in the industry as well as other pros from across the country and constantly study the latest trends in editing, shooting, etc. There are countless resources for professional photographers who want to stay on top of their game.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I remember as a kid looking at magazines, portraits and editorial photography, and knowing I could create those types of images. I've had years of practice and education in making images as accurate, clear and as absolutely true as possible. I know how important it is to create great images. I always have. The science and art of photography is something I understand well. I just get it. What a great thing!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All kinds. Executives, real estate agents, home builders, actors, models, families, business owners, art directors, students and the list goes on and on. As a freelance photographer, I get to do a lot of different types of jobs and work with fantastic people.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I occasionally get hired by video producers from other parts of the country who are here in the midwest producing footage for clients. They hire me to shoot B roll still footage to add to their video projects. I do a lot of projects involving businesses and updating printed material and websites for large and smaller business. It's hard to name one particular job, because I really enjoy them all! It's awesome taking photographs of interactions between teachers and students, doctors and patients, and seeing them on a website, pamphlet, or even a billboard!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look at the photographer's images. Pictures don't lie, and in this business an image IS worth a thousand words! Don't be afraid to ask for references just as you would with any other service provider. A reputable photographer will gladly provide you with contact information from current and former clients. My final advise would be to remember we get what we pay for, and photography is certainly no exception to that.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
A customer's budget limit is very important. As a customer myself at times, I always establish that in the beginning. It not only helps me move forward as a customer, but also as a service provider.
