Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Jobs are priced based on the scope and size of the project. Real estate photography starts at $220

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I will gather information about the project including location, size and recommend services as needed. I will provide a quote. We will arrange time and day for shoot. On shoot day I will arrive a little early to set up. We will create the media. After shooting, I will return to the office to edit all the media, compositing photos, editing videos, processing 3D tours, etc. When all the media is edited, I will send a link to the client where they can preview watermarked media. If they like it, they can pay and download full size images. The size of the delivered images will depend on the intended use. MLS systems have size restrictions for example.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am part 107 certified to fly drones commercially in the US.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have a family background in Real Estate, but never wanted to go the sales route. I do however enjoy creating media. Where I live now I saw a need for better media on the MLS.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
My primary clients are Real Estate Agents, but I also work with builders, architects, designers and FSBO clients.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look at the images in their portfolio, there are several different styles of Real Estate Photography. Many photographers send their photos out to be edited which can lead to a "cookie cutter" look (all the whites are hot white, the window views look a little too clear to be real, etc). Personally, I use a combination of natural and artificial light to shoot real estate. The technique has the awful name "Flambient", but it provides more true to life colors and a pleasing natural look.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
If you need to shoot a house. Is it ready? Are the rooms de-cluttered? Is the house clean? Are the rooms staged? Realize that when you list a house, it becomes a product. A very expensive product and it should be treated as such. It should be depersonalized, cleaned, and staged as much as possible to get the best photos possible. How much does Coca-Cola spend on one photograph of their iconic can for a national ad campaign? (Hint: more than $25,000.00) Your listing will also be national, make it the best you can.(It won't cost $25,000!)
