Introduction

Safe Drone Solution offers the following services: Aerial Mapping using RTK and PPK GPS for centimeter accuracy, which can be used for construction progress, measuring distances and piles, 3D modeling and 3D printing. Safe Drone Solutions provides photo and video editing services, which greatly enhance your final product. We have professional full frame camera equipment for ground photos and video as needed. Listening to customer's requirements and delivering a polished product is my specialty. I love photography and videography, and the idea of extending my tripod to the sky was amazing, so I got into drones. I built several drones, and even joined racing clubs. I found that in addition to using the drone as a remote camera, I really enjoy flying drones as well. Creating works of art using tools that I love is truly an exciting way to live.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My typical rate is $75/hour. This charge is for travel, flying, and editing. You can save money by doing your own editing, because unlike many photographers, I will provide all of the raw photos and video, which would allow you to create your own masterpiece(s).

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We can get together on the phone to talk. If there is further interest, we can meet if necessary. For one-off events such as weddings, I need to be able to attend the rehearsal or have access to the area in order to setup flight plans and test.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have taken online classes related to passing my Remote Pilot Exam. I keep current with all the latest changes as this field transforms from being a "wild west" to a safe regulated commerce.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My background is in electronics and software engineering, and I've always been the official photographer/videographer for family and friends events. Drones seemed to be a natural fit since it fits into every aspect of my background. I started by building my own drones, and learned to fly them. I then joined drone racing clubs where I had to think quick when racing. In the meantime, I became more and more enamored by the types of photos and video that I could capture, where the drone was more of a "tall tripod" in the sky, and I could catch the angle that other photographers couldn't get close to.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
* General contractors - who want progress photos and videos for their construction sites. * Insurance companies - who want roof inspections to help the claim adjuster after a storm. * Personal customers - who want video/photos of their outside wedding and/or reception. * Event planners - who have a special event, such as a 5k run, that they want recorded. * Promotional customers - who want photos and video to promote their business. * Real Estate agents - who want to sell houses that they are listing. * Photographers - who do ground photos and don't fly, but want to add this to their offerings.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Just filmed a wedding that was on a beach in Florida. Combined the use of drone, GoPros, and professional handheld cameras to create several videos with lots of photos.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Always ask for a copy of the pilot's Remote Pilot License which is FAA issued, and shows that the pilot went through the proper training to pass the license exam. The Small Unmanned Aircraft Systems (SUAS) rating is required by law for any commercial drone activity.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What editing services are provided? Will the raw photos & video be available? If so, is there are charge for the raw photos & video? How much notice is required? Is the event in a No Fly Zone? If in a No Fly Zone, does the pilot have authorization to fly? If this is a special event, can liability insurance can be provided for the event? If so, how much liability can be insured, and what's the cost?
