Introduction

I’m focusing on the outdoor automotive photography niche for customers to sell their vehicle and commercial advertising or simply customer personal photo albums. I prefer more creative shots and post-production with attention to details. However, if your needs are for nice standard shots, that is up my ally too. For example, real estate and land parcel photos. (Drone capabilities coming soon.) While I am new to the scene, I will conduct myself and my work in a friendly, professional manner. Expert-status is a goal of mine—we all start somewhere. I'm trying to fill an unmet need of creative outdoor automotive photography in the Pittsburgh region. Customer experience is very important to me, so my aim is to be sure you are delighted with your experience. I will provide a 10% discount to customer's who refer me to another paying customer.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My fee is an all-inclusive rate that represents the end product as fully edited and touched up. The rate reflects my niche market of automotive outdoor photography.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We talk details and what the customer is looking for from a look and feel, I'll want to know about what the customer has seen and likes, and what the final output needs to be. We'll put together ideas for location so we know if there are anything we need before setting up at the location, work out a timeline, and schedule it in.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have been in the design industry since 1995 and since have worked in many aspects of graphic design, art direction, web design, user interface and user experience design for mobile apps and web apps. Photography has almost always been involved to some degree throughout my career and I've always enjoyed photography. I have skills to compose the shots in the frame well since I have a "design eye" especially for the details. I'm no expert [yet] but consider myself a learner and constantly working on skill-building. I do not have formal training in photography other than some classes I've had in the past and self-taught.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Mostly a hobby for me but also have a passion for photography. I'm an automotive enthusiast who also loves nature, so that's why I'd like to focus on outdoor/outside automotive photography.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
People trying to sell their vehicle.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently shot the 2012 VW Golf R and really enjoyed it. The actual photoshoot took about 1 hour because it was at sun-down and my light diminished quickly.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Think about how you're trying to portray your vehicle in the photos you need. Many times the opposite of a typical setting for your car is best since it makes it more interesting and attention-getting. Think of perhaps a sports car on a dirt trail in the forest—that is much more interesting than a sports car on a winding road since that's where you'd expect to see it. The juxtaposition is what makes it interesting.
