Introduction

Hi, my name is Mike Dewalt. My wife and I Jodee are the owners of Mike Dewalt Photography. We're a husband and wife photography team. Our goal is to provide extremely high quality images for a budget price! Our goal is also to take our time with you. You will never feel rushed through your photo sessions or your wedding day. Since we do so many weddings, we realize your day is important to you, so we assist you as much as possible and not only grab the shots you want but also the small details you may have never realized existed! We recognize these are memories that we are capturing and we take care to get just what you want! In the day and age of technology, many photographers choose to solely communicate by electronic means. Although that's fine in many situations, there's nothing we like more than to meet up with you to get to know you and your needs and to explain better who we are and what we do. We specialize in mostly weddings, but of course do family, couples and senior portraits; but we have done many other things like bridal and baby showers and other events. We've done anywhere from newborn to toddler children's photos. We've done sporting events. We've done church directory and headshot photography. We've done some boudoir shoots. We've done re-enactments and other special events. There aren't too many jobs we couldn't handle! To see a lot more of our work, go to our photography page on Facebook "Mike Dewalt Photography"

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I met with a potential wedding client a little while back. The couple sat across my wife and I and asked "What's the catch?" I asked what they meant by that. After looking at my work, they went on to say that they couldn't believe that one could get that kind of quality for such a good price! After we shot the wedding, and delivered their finished images, they told us we definitely delivered not only fantastic images, but a fantastic experience overall for such a good price. We believe you'll say the same thing because we've heard it time and time again. Your satisfaction with my work will be my best advertisement! Every client is unique to me, so my prices listed on Thumbtack are a starting point. If you're interested in my work, we can sit down and talk about price. Just remember, just because another photographer charges more, it's no guarantee that their work is any better!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
After a potential customer reaches out to me, I like to communicate as much information as I can possibly give to make sure they are very informed. A lot of clients like to meet face to face and we love to do that! We also want to learn about who you are so that we can best serve your needs!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have taken courses with David Molnar. I have also done an immense amount of self education to learn what I have. I am constantly immersing myself in studying up on technology and techniques to be constantly taking my photography to the next level. I'm never satisfied with where I am. One thing a lot of my customers always hear is "Do you mind if we try something new? I think you're really going to like it!"

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started with my pure love of photography, especially that of portrait photography. I gained the attention of the local people of my area. It has only grown since then. I also was selected by one of the most popular wedding photographers in our area to be his trusted second shooter. That's what started my love of wedding photography.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Bride and grooms, high school seniors, families. Wrestlers, basketball, and football players. Newborns all the way through toddlers. Event planners.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look at their work. Compare their work with others! With there being so many styles and approaches to portrait photography, see if their work matches what you're looking for.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
The biggest thing is probably budget. Then your next question should be does this photographer offer the quality I'm looking for, for what he/she is charging?
