Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I will always try to work in your budget. I give a quote but it’s not set in stone. Don’t be afraid to tell me your budget or ask questions. I will always look to see what I can do to lower my price to still give you the photos you are wanting!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I love to talk to new potential clients. I want to learn about what they are looking for a get a feel for their personality. I then give them a quote that hopefully will fit in their budget based on the details they gave me of the event. I share my number so you can contact me with any concerns you have and I wait for your shoot date to come!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a BFA in Commercial and Advertising photography from SCAD

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I originally went to school for commercial and advertising photography. I graduated with a photography degree but when I was pushed into the real world I realized I didn’t want to work for a company who would undermine my creativity. I wanted to meet people and have a good time while doing my job. That’s why we created Simple Moments. It’s a place where everyone can feel safe and like family as well as enjoy themselves.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked will all kinds of people! Long term couples, new couples, families, friends, awkward, and photogenic people. I will help you through it no worries!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Julie and Paul’s wedding will always have a special place in my heart. Last minute, these two decided to get married and put together a wedding in just 20 days. They picked a venue that they frequent on a normal day. They know the staff like they know family. They graciously allowed me to capture their day and be part of their family. I played with the kids, smiled with Mom, even became the right hand to Julie, making sure her straps were tucked in and her lipstick was safe. The whole even was less than three hours but it was so much fun and, in my opinion, a perfect wedding.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would check out everyone’s body of work and work with the creative who seems like the best fit for you. Everyone prices opportunities differently. You have to find the person who seems to fit with you the best and who’s work stands out to you the most... even if they are priced a little higher than someone else.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Customers should ask were photographers are located because if they are far away they may end up charging more than usual because now there is a travel fee. Customers also shouldn’t be afraid to ask about past projects. Customers should get to know their photographer so they were comfortable when shooting. Also, if you’re not sure what you are wanting, ask your photographer. They will always have suggestions!
