We have been given opportunities to capture memories for our clients whether it is a wedding, baby shower, birthday party, cake smash session, or engagement portraits. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

There are a variety of considerations that should be considered in regards to pricing. There are packages available along with hourly rates.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When working with a new client, I like to make sure to make myself available to answer any questions. Prior to planning, we discuss desired colors, themes, and locations along with the types of photographs that they would like taken. Once the basics have been discussed, then information about lighting and poses are discussed concerning the clients preferences. Once deposits are paid, then confirmations are done regularly with the client just to check in on any needs. Email is sent with all information that was discussed for the clients records.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I began as a hobbyist. Once I started learning different techniques and editing software, I found that I loved photography.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with community members for church events along with upcoming models looking to build their portfolio. Maternity portraits were completed in a confined space with minimal retouching. Family portraits have been executed with high quality results.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I had a family portrait session in Wall Doxey State Park. It took 1.5 hours. Their end products were amazing.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

My advice would be to give details to the professional about the type of photos desired along with asking questions about the professional’s style of editing.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

The date, location, number of poses, number if desired images, theme, and props needed are vital topics to be discussed.
