Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Due to the fact that Roxstar Photog (Key Marcus) is brand new to the area I am offering 50% off for new clients on their first portrait session. Real Estate agents also will be given a 50% deduction for their first shoot.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
New customers are precious, therefore, free consultations are required in order to acquire a rapport that will allow the relationship to grow with trust and to be able to build a relationship for future endeavors.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
My education started many years ago at the Academy of Art College in San Francisco California. However, I graduated from the Colorado Institute of Art in Denver. The real education comes from work experience-which I absorbed throughout my 22 years working for some of the best commercial photographers in Seattle Washington. All of that experience reflects in every project I embrace with passion.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Real Estate photography was definitely one of the most generous extended educations I endured as an assistant, which was the last great job I enjoyed for almost 6 years before I landed in El Paso Texas. On the other hand, Portraiture has always been the challenge I've wanted to tackle for some time now. I worked in a few portrait studios as a retoucher and assisted on many sessions-which was when I caught the bug. I also was a contributing photographer for SOUND magazine in Seattle in 2007-2008, which was my first publication-and that gave me the desire to pursue portraiture (fashion).

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with all kinds of people as customers: Students, actors, musicians, models, professionals, enthusiasts, friends and family. The most important thing I've learned about customers-is that I always refer to them as my new friends and eventually my dear friends.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
My most recent project has been creating my website-which has basically been about launching my own business as a professional photog. ***************** started many years ago simply as my portfolio of work. However, only two years ago-I had to transform it into a business website (Roxstar Photog). It takes a ton of work to get it right-it never ends. All of it is about how to create each page that best reflects and mirrors who you are and what you do. It's serious business and I take seriously-with passion.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
"Look no further-Roxstar Photog exceeds all expectations". My advice would be to view the photographers website-and if you don't feel a connection, keep looking until you do.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Customers should know exactly what they want and should ask exactly those questions in order to fulfill the answers they are looking for. This is why an in-person consultation is key. A rapport must be established, it can lead and fulfill many questions with the answers desired-then, can lead to great expectations and hopefully complete satisfaction.
